Looks like I won that auction; now all I need is a Jeep to put it in! Thanks again to everyone that contributed to this thread, super helpful information.

I'd like to take a moment to say thanks for all the great information in this thread. I ordered a 2014 JKU Rubicon earlier this month (still waiting on the email etc.) and I ordered it with the crappiest radio (130) because the other radio options were so much more expensive I figured I could do aftermarket better and cheaper. After reading all 20 pages of this thread (and half of the thread linked in the initial posting), I think I'm going to just buy an RBZ unit and install it myself - I did purchase the connectivity group with the rubicon, so that won't be an issue, it should be plug and play, based on the information I have gleaned from these threads. I put a bid on this unit, not the cheapest, but good information and if it is, in fact, never used, should be right:

If anyone could confirm, I'd sure appreciate it, but it looks like it'll be just right for my new JKU when it comes in, unless there's something about the 2014 models I have missed when reading the posts. Thanks guys for all the great information!

I just picked up a 430 RBZ off ebay with a build date of June 2010... I don't have my Jeep yet so I can't throw it in to confirm but from what I have read in this thread the unit I have won't update to the Jeep logo and I can't upgrade past 10.xx software, correct?
If that is the case I think I may try to sell it and pick up one built in 2011 or 2012, after thinking about it I think I would rather have the black background/Jeep logos of the than I would the green backlights/blue background and chrysler logo, anyone have experience making that jump with any advice?

|REPPO||anyone here modify the one with top holes to fit in our Jeeps?|
|03-18-2014 11:56 AM|
|REPPO||I thought about that, but would rather sell it and get a new one that fits correctly. unless nobody buys it...then ill chop away.|

|Burger16b||You could always grim off the tabs and rig a way to fit it in. I did this with a 130 radio that had satellite before I got my 430.|
|03-18-2014 08:36 AM|
|REPPO||Guess ill just sell it. damn...good price too.|

So i just picked up a RBZ off ebay and the harness has the holes on top instead of on the side of the head unit. Am i screwed? Here is the one i picked up.

Above advise suggests the USB port on the 430 unit just above the little 1/8 plug will charge and operate features on an iPhone
Does this sound correct
Please note I do not have " u connect "

I did order premium sound system and am enjoying sound now before the warm weather gets here and I take hard top off
Thank you much
I think if store where I ordered was more knowledgeable I might have ended up with connectivity and the 430 not all on them I had idea of exactly what I wanted

A touch screen
A dvd player
A USB port on the radio
Not sure if that is worth $695 to you. If you ordered the Premium sound system, you are better off finding a used 430 or 430N (if you ordered Sirius) and installing it yourself. If you didn't order Premium sound, you are probably better off going aftermarket.
The Connectivity package provide a USB port inside the center console/armrest, along with bluetooth and such.
Now, my guess is that Jeep read the 430rbz thread and jumped in for the 2014 by offering it on the Sports. Of course they screwed it up early on by somehow only including ONE USB port (radio) when someone ordered Connectivity AND the 430rbz in a Sport. But outside of that snafu, if you ordered Connectivity and a 430/430N/730N, you got two USB ports.

Do you connect an iPod via the USB port and does the steering wheel also control the iPod or pandora
That's what I'm looking for the 430 unit to do

So the 430 won't really get me any thing

I think I made a mistake when I ordered my sport S I got the 130 radio figured I'd up grade to aftermarket unit for far less than the the 430 unit at $695 little did I know the sport S comes with steering wheel controls and I thought the 130 would have a USB port but does not so hers question
What do I get if I pay bucks to get the non nav 430 radio unit
Many thanks for your insights fellow jeepers

20 minutes... TOTAL plug n' play. Amazing! No pairing of the phone... blah blah blah. It just works perfect.
I got a 430N RBH from a 2013 Jeep. Love it. It was the only option I really wanted on the Sport that I couldn't have without paying for a Rubicon.
I don't know if it's just in my head, but it does seem to have more power than my 130S did. Does anybody know if that's true?

After reading all the great info on this thread i ordered my 430 RBZ from OEM Autoparts.com as I was tired of waiting on EBay. When I ordered my unit I told them exactly what I wanted, a 2011 or newer anti theft unit and backlit in green, I also asked for the latest and greatest jeep software their response was no problem. Installation was a breeze plug and play, I freaked a little when I first powered it up, a Volkswagen screen came up and then it asked for the code, as soon as I put in the code the screen changed immediately to the jeep screen with the black background, Whoo Hoo I am good to go!Attachment 783369

|Segfault||Just ordered mine off eBay. I've been following this thread for awhile and decided to take the plunge. After this arrives, it'll be time to upgrade the speakers, get an LOC and amp. Then I should be ready for the summer in Texas!|

|panthermark||It does not have to be from a 2012...mine is from a 2010. But...you do want to make sure it comes from a vehicle with the proper options so you have all the inputs. Also, make sure it fits a Wrangler. There are two types of RBZ's, some have the holes on the sides, some on the top/bottom.|

|Gumbys69||Ok, so on my 2014 its a high bus and I should look for a 430 RBZ from a 2012 and up? If so I need to make sure I have the 4 digit pin code or at least the VIN from the donor vehicle right? Anything else I need to look for? Looking on Ebay etc there are lots but just unsure what works and what doesn't, I want to be 100% sure when I order it that its going to work. Thanks!|
