|Shoe||If there is enough of the old bracket left, you can buy new adapter brackets to hold 5.25" speakers that require some cutting on the old bracket anyway.|

|jwils||I appreciate the responses guys, I think I will try to fab up some of my own brackets and maybe with some rubber washers I could make it so they wont vibrate.|

|viperx6x9x||On the bright side, since the metal is cut up anyway, you can make your own bracket to put whatever speaker you want in there. I hear those 5.25" speakers are a popular upgrade. I wouldn't waste time trying to fit the 6x9's back personally|

Im not sure, but if my memory is correct, that metal section is rather large... If you cant replace it easily, I would buy some sheet metal, snip it to size with some tin snips, bend it to look normal, and either weld or use some sheet metal screws to attach it back onto the metal frame around there.
Heres a picture of how its supposed to look in there if you need it.

Can't really tell, did he cut up the dash too or just the brackets? That could reguire some metal work or maybe maybe a new dash piece.
I can't remember the thread but in the for sale section there was a guy parting out a 97 wrangler i think it was. Maybe you could still score a replacement at a decent price.

TJ Stereo Help Please
Hey guys, I was wondering if you all could give me some insight on what you would do with this problem I have. It seems that the PO put aftermarket speakers in the dash, but they just laid 6x9s in there and cut my mounting brackets instead of doing it the right way. I would just leave it but the speakers are pointing towards the doors and basically useless right now. How would you mount up new 5.25 inch speakers properly? So I'm open to suggestions.
Here's some pictures of the genius's handywork.
