khenderson alright....here is the newest pic of my jeeps front with the painted bezels, the herc'ed bumper, and the painted d-rings.

1BLKJP That is true. The thermostat will not open until the engine hits 190. But I highly doubt that your jeep ever runs lower than 200 during normal operating temps. Mine runs about 210 normally and maybe a littler higher during the middle of summer out here with the AC on in traffic.

So with the thermostat out of the equation lowering the under hood temps will have a positive effect on your engines performance.

khenderson i didn't think that would have an effect on the engine temp since the thermostat won't open if the temp drops below what it's rated at(mine being 190).

1BLKJP No, I think you are going to see the same thing on your next tank. You are in effect cooling the engine compartment more by letting more airflow thru. Which in turn will be positive on the engines performance. Too bad it isn't very hot right now or you would probably notice a little drop in engine temp also.

khenderson hahaha. they are black, although they are not back on yet. there were no noticeable differences in driving, weather, etc. everything seemed pretty standard except the bezels were off. i'll get 'em back on and get some pics up soon. got the bumper herc'ed and the bezels painted!! oh yeah!

4Jeepn Where there any other factors.. outside temp.. more highway vs short trips during that time. also what color did you paint the bezels and where are the pic's!

better mileage?!

so i took my headlight bezels off to paint them and while they were off, i ran through a tank of gas. so i filled up and, of course, did the math for my mileage and it was up about 1.5 mpg from my usual. so i'm leaving them off for a little while to see if i continue to see the higher number or if it was a fluke. the only thing i can think of is that because the intake it right behind the headlight, maybe there's a little extra air flow directly to the intake, allowing a little cooler air into the engine.
