1lb rice flaked (I used 1lb rice syrup)
Steep at 155 for 20-39 min
2lb DME amber
3.3 lbs LME (I use LME for late extract addition at flame out to keep color lighter)
1 oz Perle 8% 60 min
Irish moss 15 min
1 oz Saaz 4% 5 min

|Banditt135||I would love to have the recipe for the Boston lager. I don't have any homebrew going at the moment, but I do have 5 gallons of BlackBerry wine in the fermenter. Got the berrys from my fatherinlaws berry patch. I'm using 19 pounds of them.|

I started with a Mr Beer kit last christmas. I brewed some chezch pilsner. Came out alright. Still have a few bottles left hiding in the back of the pantry.
Next thing I did was a 1 gallon batch of apple cider. Really simple and easy to do. I added some cranberry juice to some of the bottles for a little more flavor. Some of my bottles blew up during a pasteurizing incident lol Turned out pretty well besides the bottle bombs.
Right now I have a 1g batch of Caribou Slobber in the primary. Once that is bottled I have a 1g batch of Hefeweizen to brew. After these are all done I have a 5g of Amber Ale that I would like to add some fruit flavor to. Maybe some fresh cherries or blueberries.

Two suggestions for everyone.
Brewers best Scottish ale kit. Cheap and good tasting. Great beer to introduce people into darker beers or beers with a little more flavor.
A Boston lager clone I just made, closest clone I have made yet! Color is dead in, smell and flavor are extremely close. Very happy and impressed with it.
I'll post recipe if anyone wants it.

|bardb||lol, already thumbing through the recipe kits trying to decide what's next. As for getting started, just always wanted to try and finally did. Thinking about picking up some soft copper tubing from HD/Lowes to make an IC.|

drinking the first bottle of our Urho's Ale (brewing in the previous post). good hop taste and not bitter! glad I cut the boil down a little.

yep I'm on homebrew talk too haha "glassbottom" is my username. lots of good advice on there, helped me out with my java cream stout.
the hefe is really good, nice flavor and subtle banana taste haha used a kit from Midwest supply and really like how it turned out

yeah we took a break from brewing and our stock is getting low! our java cream stout is smoothing out and tastes great, but were running out of hefeweizen which was our best brew so far.
yeah we might all grain in the future, but I'd rather spend the money on jeep stuff haha

I can't keep my noble pils clone stocked. This is the 3rd or 4th time making it and it always goes pretty quick.
I do extract with steeping grains too. I'm debating trying BIAB or all grain in a few years when the kids get older. Just don't have the time or money for equipment right now.
I have been very happy with my brews, even the ones I don't like have been because I didn't like the beer, not an off flavor. Info however let mine age 6-8 weeks before drinking because I have found there is a bitterness till around then. I assume it is a greenness or the extract twang everyone talks about.

Try googling extract recipes and go away from the kits. A ton more choices! Think of a beer you like and just look for the recipe. Just take notes so you can adjust if it isn't exactly like you want.

I try to keep my pipeline full. If I have an open fermenter and extra money, I get ingredients or a kit.

|moscoeb||Sounds interesting. I'm not a coffee guy, so not for me, I'm sure it will even out with age. I have gotten to the point of letting all my beers age 6-8 weeks before drinking them. Seems to lend to a more blended smoother beer. Just have to be diligent about keeping pipeline full!|

|kisportolt||haven't had a chance to brew a new batch in a few weeks, but our java cream stout is finally ready to drink! pretty strong coffee taste, but still pretty good. 5oz of coffee in a 5 gallon batch for 10 days may have been too much, but hoping it mellows out over time|
