hdb Hey dont have advice but want to say that it sounds awesome and worth doing. For a long time I have dreamed about being able to just hop in the jeep and go... somewhere in any direction... and see stuff and just drive and explore for days. I hope you have a good experience and a safe trip and thank you for your service.

Tater Todd Route 12 in Southern Utah is great. A bit off from Vegas. But, if you hit Moab there's probably a cut through to hit 15 and head South. Arches is great too.

Thanks for your service.

bostiguy I have nothing to add to your search but just wanted to say that I think it's great that you are doing this trip.
As you get older those opportunities seem to get harder to come by. That sounds like a great trip you are planning. Good luck and please keep us posted on your venture, and thank you for your service!

bbtj If you are going to be in the area, check out Death Valley, just make sure you buy gas before heading through there. There is a scenic overlook, that is about a mile high, that overlooks the valley.

Atlanta to Anchorage

i am currently stationed in Ramstein Germany and this May i will be moving to anchorage courtesy of the military. i plan on taking 30 days of leave home in the atlanta area and having my jeep shipped home so that i can drive it for those 30 days and then afterwards drive up to anchorage. so far my trip includes stopping at the grand canyon and going to the indian reservation that lets you drive through the canyon. then i will hit up vegas as i have a highschool friend stationed there. after vegas driving through the redwood forest. those are the only planned pit stop i have for now however i am open to suggestions as i am wanting to make the most out of my drive up there and i've mostly only been in the south east of the states. i'm looking to scenic places to visit. i probably wont spend more than a day in each location as i will be driving a miniumn of 8 hours each day and spending the rest of the day in the location where i stop. i also have a jeep rubicon so if you know of any scenic places to go off road along the way places you would consider a cant miss. please ignore the fragmented sentences and grammatical error.
