|Gunz n tractorz||I wouldn't go more than an 1in body lift bc in my opinion anything bigger than that looks hookey. A body lift only lifts the body or tub. A suspension lift is the better way to go it actually lifts everything above the axels. I got mine from rustys offroad, highly recommended, although I almost won't with a rubicon express. Another option you have is a shackle lift, wouldn't recommend going much larger than an 1.5in shackle lift. Another thing is if you lift more than 4in you will need a slip yoke eliminator and new driveshaft. I have a 4in lift and didn't have to do that stuff, but any suspension lift larger u will need it. Thanks for the help guys.
For real, I mean I'm a pretty busy guy so I really don't have the time or knowledge to do this stuff, and I don't really have a small budget, I just want it done properly with excellent equipment.
I just wanted to say thanks for some explanations, now I have a sort of understanding when I talk to the people about having this done. Im not sure what brand they are wanting to sell me, so I'll ask to stay away from rough country.
What's the best kit available for longevity and durability?

|DJ_Marc||Zone 4" lift requires no sye and is easy to install around $675 total for the kit. Boots steering stabilizer and all! Zone is a sister company of BDS so its a great kit for a budget includes tranny drop and rear shims to get your driveline angle set. As said before get a buddy and do it yourself so much more satisfaction that way.Also I wouldn't go any bigger than 31's on a 4 cyl due to a small motor and gearing to keep from overloading the motor just my .02.|

a body lift replaces the body to frame mounts, most people recommend nothing over 1".
daystar and prothane are about the 2 best brands.
a suspension lift replaces the springs and shocks. the best way to lift the jeep, but going 4" can get expensive as the lift itself is more plus often you will need a SYE, slip yoke eliminator w/ new drive shaft to stop vibration.
budget lift is usually just helper springs, not recommended.
IMHO, I'd go with a 1" bodylift and a 2" suspension lift, thats enough for 32's.
old man emu, BDS and rubicon express are the top brands, zone is pretty good if your on a budget. most people don't like rough country, cheap but usually sag in a few years.
you should really consider doing this yourself. changing these parts is pretty easy and the pride in doing it yourself can't be beat. besides repairing a 20-25 year old vehicle gets expensive if you have to pay someone for everything.

body lift vs suspension lift vs budget lift? I'm new
Hey everyone. I feel supremely awkward posting on an Internet forum, I've never done this before, I always find my answers on google but have had zero luck on a clear cut explanation.
I am new to jeeps, i just bought a pretty neat looking 93 yj running 31s, the 4cyl 5 speed. I went to price a suspension lift and was quoted a 4 inch lift for 850, I don't know what brand the lift kit itself was. I was also recommended doing a 3in body lift for clearance for the 32x11 tires I want to run.
I just don't understand the difference, the pros and cons and explanation of the terminology. I don't really turn wrenches, Im a recording engineer and just don't really trust myself with this stuff. I do know that this wrangler is really neat looking, but Id like to add that southern element to it. It will see some trails, but will mainly be used on rural highways.
I know im new, and I don't know if I'm breaking forum edicate by posting a question my first time out, and I'm sorry if I am. Im just really really new to all of this. My other car is a mini cooper so I mean, this is a total 180.
What are recommendations for a properly handling, safe, solid lift?
