|RednekYJ||Gears take some knowledge and tools. Unless you have and know how to use a dial indicator to set backlash and a torque wrench to set pinion preload I say take it to a reputable shop.|

|RednekYJ||An E-fan will be the next best thing to gears BUT it will not help alot. Any other "bolt on" is a joke. Unless you have money to burn stay away from cold air intakes, throttle body spacers, and header. You might feel a little quicker by the "butt dyno" but that's about it. In all seriousness you may pick up 5-10hp from an e fan setup. I will be doing it eventually, maybe this summer.|

My vote for 31's and a 5 speed 4 cylinder is 4.56's
I echo the sentiment of 4.88's with 33's, but I think that's a bit much for 31's on a DD.
That said, in my opinion that's the only thing worth spending money on to get anything performance wise on a setup with a 2.5L. I know buying bolt ons is tempting, but don't do it, you'll be disappointed and poor.

|yjlife||mainly just to school. some muddin around town nothing to heavy duty. my buddy and I are planning on going to gulches off road park and do some trail riding. I also go on the interstate at times and the top speed around town is 60.|

|RednekYJ||What kind of driving do you do? 4.88 will be great around town with 31s but you will be revving pretty high on the highway at 65mph. 4.88 is the lowest you can go with the d30/35 axles. You have 4.10 now, going to 4.56 would be better but you might as well go all the way.|

|RednekYJ||Finding a set of 4banger axles is not unheard of. I would keep an eye out and if you do find them they should be no more than $500. This way you will have a bolt in set of axles with 4.10's.|

However with both keep in mind your putting money into a weak dana 35 axle.. Lots of folks save up get a axle like a ford 8.8 and then start their build with that. Junkyard 8.8 run under 200 bucks... some welding is needed for the install.

Choosing gears has alot to do with what you have in mind for the rig. Daily driver on 31's I would go 4.10. Here is a decent chart that will give you an idea of where you want to be.

|Anepyer4964||Hi- since your on te subject of gears, what would be the best ratio for a 95' 4.0L with 31" tires ? Right now I'm stock 3.07 which is not bad once it gets going but would I get up to speed faster with a gear ratio change? Thanks .... and what ratio do you recommend !?!?|

|RednekYJ||Gears are going to be the best bang for the buck power wise. I'm running 4.56 on 30"tires and it is about the same as 4.10 on stock(27") tires. Go 4.88 if you ever plan on running 33's|

Hey guys im 17 years old a senior in high school with a 4cyl. yj. does any body have any tips for me about how to make it stronger (not really more hp) just more giddy up and go strength. I have 31 tires should i get new gears? thanks yall!
