Don't mean to wake this thread up again, but I called a few audio installation places around here as well as best buy asking about the bypass module. They all say my '04 X does require one. They say they key color doesn't matter.
Any suggestions or reasons they may be wrong? It's a Viper remote start and alarm. I'm no professional when it comes to this so what's the point of a bypass anyhow?

If your keeping the full doors and switching between the two, may as well go for all of it I'd think the worst that would happen if you got a decent kit, is the full doors would be worth a bit more cash if you sell them. Up to you if you want to do the work though.
Mine doesn't have power locks/windows so I went with a simple one-button remote plus alarm. I had all the extra goodies on my Lincoln Compustar setup, took a bit to wire it all up! With the Jeep I won't use it in the summer anyways as I plan to take the doors off as much as possible

|JeepReaper09||I haven't heard much on compustar. I was thinking about doing the power windows and locks as well, but decided I'm going to end up getting half steel doors if I can find some, and don't want to do the work only to get rid of them.|

|IcarusLSC||I almost bought a Viper Responder One, but ended up buying a Compustar, but haven't installed it yet. Mines a stick though, so I went with a few extras like the DAS sensor that detects movement (for remote start and alarm.) The Reponder would have needed an extra module for the manual trans, and the bypass module, so I bailed on it. The Compustar has the Blade module onboard which saves some room too. I've used Compustars on a handful of cars with good luck so far.|

|JeepReaper09||Haven't gotten one yet, but definitely going with viper. Found a 2-way system with alarm for $180 on Amazon. I'm going to add the tilt sensor and an audio sensor To it since Jeeps are the simplest vehicles to break into.|

|boltz||Nope your good to go. I just installed one about two weeks ago pretty straight forward just take the knee panel off below your steering wheel and the wires you need to tap are all right thier with the exception of the parking light wire and break switch wire.|

Bypass Module for Remote start
Hey everyone, Im new to the Forum, and did a little research but found nothing specific.
I have an '04 Wrangler X, Automatic transmission. Just curious if my jeep will require a bypass module to allow the Remote start to work? It doenst have any type of special key or current alarm system.
