|jk'n||I have 4 kayaks. On my caravan I had the Yakima two bar rack system. I investigated the mounting system for the Jeep unlimited and discovered that the load limit was something like 40 pounds, good enough for maybe skis or something. What you really need to put kayaks up top is a serious rack system. There are a few choices out there. Here is one that I have been looking at since before it was released. I have other uses for it besides just the kayaks. This is how I get my kayaks around now. I have an 8X10 covered haulmark trailer that I fold the micro trailer up an put it into on long duration camping trips. The kayaks go up on top of the covered trailer using ladder racks (construction type). When I get the roof rack, I'll have a choice of which way I want to carry the kayaks. I do really like not having to lift the kayaks to the top of the vehicle though and that is what is delaying my purchase of a roof rack. I need more time to play with the stuff I got already. The roof rack would be useful 4 wheeling (I think).|
