I came across the link above while searching for some basic off road trails in MI. I haven't checked any of them out yet, but I plan to this summer at some point. Definitely the Manistee Area one.
Many of these trails are mapped by me (sdault) and more pictures can be found on https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jeepi...45942098806582

I also have a custom Garmin GPS map with most of these trails on it located at

Great Lakes Offroad Garmin Compatible Map - GPSFileDepot

The map comes in handy as it shows what trails are dead end and you can also create routes and search for trail heads.

Abnormal-JK I talked to Dave and Carol, the owners of Kids In The Mudd today via email... no helmets required for Jeeps... you do need a Dune Flag, they sell them there for $15 for an 8 foot... they do have an air station if you're inclined to drop tire pressure, as well as a wash area if you want to leave the mud there

Abnormal-JK Don't know, haven't been, but I would doubt it.

St1n3r On the kidsinthemudd site it said "helmets required"... Is that for Jeep drivers and passengers too?

Jovialjeeper I just got my first tj and I've been loving it!!! Just went to kids in the mudd on Sunday and my first time there I had a blast was there all day with a buddy. From gr so it's the closest place to go. Plus the owner will pull you out for free if you get stuck and can't winch out!! Great owners and a great park!! It's a lot of mudd hence the name!! Ill for sure be going back! It's a newer park so it should only get better!

Abnormal-JK Not sure if y'all like "parks" and I have not been, but going to check out kidsinthemud Sunday. Between GR and Kzoo...

St1n3r Oops, hit "send"...

Anyway, I will be more aware of the local laws, try to act like an adult and a more responsible member of the Michigan off-road community.

Yeah I kinda figured it wasn't the best idea, against the law.
I just moved here from Boulder Colorado, a bit of culture shock. I had a

I am now in the market for all above said parts.

YJ fanatic The YJ is under the knife right now. Waiting on my rear lift springs in order to put my 8.8 and SYE in. Then I have to measure up the length I need my new driveshaft to be. Hopefully won't be too long though. Should be done within a month or two so it shouldn't ruin any plans.

teddyg 28th and clyde park in Wyoming area, its kinda hidden in the neighborhood back there. I go play there just about everyday and always lookin for new people to wheel with, sunk a Cherokee off the two track last week. A lot of it is pretty mild though

YJquin Might have to go to Muskegon area some time ... ill wave if I see you
10-23-2011 07:30 PM
JeepJKX In the Muskegon area and wheel almost every Friday between Muskegon and Mesick depending on time. I know folks say not to wheel alone, but I do it often. I just make it a habit to turn around if the mud looks bad.

Just remember to stay on the trails. In the National Forests you must stay on marked/numbered trails. State Forest on two tracks that show signs of use, sand or gravel showing. Say off any two tracks that show grass or weeds pushed down.
10-13-2011 04:38 PM
thewasel Near Twin Lakes just northeast of Muskegon is "Cedar Creek Motorsport Trails"... there's a bunch of atv trails over there but also some two-tracks with a few fun spots.

YJquin 20 min north of Muskegon here .. montague. State land isn't that far manatee forest ...here there's some trails out that way. Haven't had time to explore in the new jeep this summer. Looking for trails my self out this way

Thanks for the link btw, I'll be checking that out! So far I've mostly just been buzzing around in the snow in the Manistee Forest but would like to find some more areas.
hey, im in muskegon and was thinking the same thing. I want to see what my jeep can do, but dont know anyone to go with.

Randar4401 I am with you. Cant make it every weekend, but would love to hook up and enjoy a weekend or two. Let me know cause I am so willing to show what a Jeep can do!!!!!! Winter is fun, but summer is even better in Michigan. Did you all see the video of the Jeep that Flipped, and then got a few people to right side it and went on his way! That is what Jeeps are all about!
