You have a good point and lord knows I am short on boxers these days. Definitely don't want to stain a pair up. You got me thinking though. I believe I can make it with a no slip latch. All depends on tractor supplys parts bin.
You guys don't recognize those latches yet? They came off of my old OME soft top. They are the latches for the top of the windshield.

They are probably fine. But hoods ain't cheap, man. And stain-free boxers are rare when the hood does pop up on the highway.

I actually thought of just latching it thru a cut in the hood but that's a bit to trashy for what I want. If I cant make it look good ill reinstall the OEM latches.

|Bazoupi||I bought my LJ about a month ago. Today I took the stock rear bumper and Mopar trailer hitch/plow. I'm starting tomorrow morning with a front brake job. Then I will make a new rear bumper, I picked up a piece of 2x4x3/16 rectangular tubing for it yesterday.if I don't run out of time or energy I will wire wheel the tire carrier and get some paint on it.|

This is how I wired them. LEDs don't draw many amps so it should be okay to run them like this. If they wern't LEDs i wouldn't have done it this way. The diode is so my factory lamps don't come on with the switch

Three weekends of work... Finally finished (for now!)
1st weekend: Installed 33x11.5" BFG A/T KO tires on my 16" moab rims and installed a 3.25" lift.
2nd weekend: Cut the bumpers, capped them and welded tabs for the tie downs for my canoe.
3rd weekend: Created a custom roof rack for the canoe and camping cargo that can tilt backwards so I can raise and lower the roof.
Now it's ready for next week when the family goes camping!

Got a new trunk
Drove 30 mins up the road to meet the Craigslist seller of my new Jeep OEM trunk. If the back is locked you cant open it and theres 4 holes for permanent mounting also.
For the 5 Jeepers who called after me, NAA NAA NAA NA NAAA NAA.
Cost $50.00, only other one I saw like it was aftermarket, looked as if it had been used for a tire ramp for 10 years and cost twice as much.
