|WatchThis!||As of now I have 35 spline RCV shafts and an ARB in the front along with the stock locker (don't have a clue how the damned thing is still alive) with crome molly shafts in the rear both are the stock housings.|

I read through the thread again because i couldnt remember if you were running stock 44's or not.
Just curious if your drivetrain is holding up. I just picked up a 14bolt for the rear. May as well for $200

Well, I think it looks great, hell of a lot of work, good job! I have been through the Rubicon 17 times and found for me sobriety really helps in the rocks. I put a fire cracker Muffler for $25.00 (Off Craig's list) and the six banger sounds great. Your Jeep looks great, keep up the good work....
Thanks for keeping us advised of the project, it's been really cool watching the work and the Jeep and hell, life's short and it's only money.

|WatchThis!||It was the stock unit. I riged up the compressor last year knowing I would be having to upgrade to ARBs sooner or later.|
|05-29-2013 11:39 PM|
Yea, understood. What an f'd up chain of events lol. As they say... Broken parts = better parts.
What locker was up front? I thought you had an arb up there already. Was it the stock rubi locker?
|05-29-2013 10:47 PM|
I got in a huge bind and tried letting out on the clutch to see if one of the tires would slip...... they didn't. The locker started acting up right after that. Well after sitting around the camp fire for a few hours we took a ride and ended up at a water fall. The locker was already acting up and staing locked up so I got that don't give a damn attitude.
I couldn't even get up on the waterfall by crawling so after a few trys I started launching in 6'th and had to bounce the front end to get it up on the ledge (It was raining). Well on the 4th or 5th try I bounced hard driver and the tires were still spinning when they slid backwards wedging in between a tree and small ledge. Well believe it or not the locker decided to let go at that very moment.
Sure I could have saved the R&P if I would have parked it as soon as the locker started acting up, but in my mind if I am fixing to spend two grand upgrading to an ARB then what's another 200 bucks for a new R&P. Besides I didn't haul it 8 hours to park it on the trailer the first day just because the front end decided to take the day off.

|jagerhelix||Awesome man. Wish you had a video blowing out that R&P. what exactly caused it? Those 35 spline shafts will be nice. Wishing I would have done a little more research and went that way in my rear in the first place.|
|05-29-2013 10:15 PM|
|WatchThis!||ARB, R&P, and new 35 spline RCV inner shafts installed. Just in time for a 600 mile road trip starting tomorow. Kinda funny since I broke both gear sets in on a road trip last time.|
|05-09-2013 12:24 PM|
Well I blew the front locker and R&P out being a dumb ass over the weekend. I have an ARB new R&P and new 35 spline inners for my RCVs on the way.

Nice build thread! I'm just about to pull the trigger on the Evo Enforcer lift with some Kings.
I think I saw you on University Tues. evening.
Anyway glad to see you got your rig back together after KOH. There were alot of the guys from WAYALIFE at KOH this year. I would have loved to be there.

im still learning welding steel. so i havent even ventured into welding aluminum. ive got a buddy that can do it tho so im not too worried. its good to have friends with skills.
i have the evo skids under mine but would like to sell them i have my eye on a different kit
|04-25-2013 09:44 AM|
|WatchThis!||That's one thing that I never learned. Never even tried it. I don't even have a clue how much different it is from welding steel.|
|04-25-2013 09:30 AM|
|lee indy||damn. can you weld aluminum?|
|04-25-2013 09:19 AM|
I only snaped one pic and it wasn't a very good one. It does give an idea of what the rest of the system looks like though.
|04-25-2013 08:38 AM|
do you think the damage would have been better or worse with the steel skids? any shots of the damage they took?
|04-03-2013 11:29 AM|
Hats off to you. You mod for capabilty and then put it to the test! I also applaud you for being different than the crowd. Everyone else goes black you go blue, hilarious.
You should contact the reps of all the mod parts you use, show them this thread and see if you can get sponsored or at least get free parts to test and provide feedback on.
By the way how did the bottle opener mod go?
I also hope you fully recovered from your accident. You will have fun trying to get by the TSA at airports with all those plates.

ps. She's a good woman though...better throw that in there before karma gets me

|WatchThis!||Drive shafts will be back next week so I will be able to put it back togher. There is a chance that I might just patch up the skid system and run it for a little longer. Trying to talk myself out of building a Dirt Riot truck out of a 01 chevy I have. If I do do that though I wont be doing any moods to the jeep for a while.|
|02-27-2013 05:23 PM|
|jsudduth||I was reading about the drop. how is it going with the rebuild?|
|02-27-2013 04:56 PM|
|WatchThis!||Yes they are the Aluminum ones. They dont look so nice anymore.|
|02-27-2013 02:06 PM|
They look aluminum but hard to tell
|02-20-2013 08:57 PM|
Well its been almost a year now and the lift has 20, 000 miles on it. My jeep took a huge beeting in the week before KOH. I sliped off my line and droped 3 foot onto a rock. This caused the tub to be tweaked a bit making the front passenger door harder to open and close. Both drive shafts got bent and the skid system is junked.
Later on in the week we ended up using it to run parts and tools out to remote pit 2 for the UTV and KOH racers. Lets just say that it ran way smoother across the dessert empty then it did with 1000 pounds of tools tires and parts in it.
I checked everything on the front after dropping it on the rock and everything was fine. But after hauling ass across the dessert for two day both front wheel bearings are shot.
I also have one control arm that the jam nut came loose on one the rod ends and now there is movement in the threads.
The shafts are on there way to Tom Woods
I should have it back together in two more weeks.
The aluminum skid system is probably going in the trash and getting replaced with steel.
Not worried about the damage to the tub.
And I am going to try my luck with just tightening the piss out of the jam on the rod end with LockTight (sp) and hoping for the best.
Yes I know some people will read this and think "man what a pile of junk" but lots of them will not understand what this thing has been threw before I had any problems with it. You cant wheel and keep up with Jeeps and buggys that are running tons and 40/44 inch tires and not have a little damage every now and then.
I was looking at an engine swap but I am now shifting my priorities to a 14bolt/60 swap.

|WatchThis!||Had an accident at work and ended up with 7 plates putting my face back together. My daughter has come up with the bright idea that I need to chang my paint sceam up and go for an Iron Man look this time.......... dont think that one is going to happen.|
