Thanks! someone else suggested that too -- I should have remembered that, as a kid we used to spend one night there on our station-wagon-drive to Colorado for vacations! Found some photos and it looks great. I'll report back any trail news I find.

Crazyflyingplastics not sure if you can go on the trails, but Palo Duro Canyon, about 2 hours north of Lubbock is beautiful. I know the Jeep Jamboree has been held out there, but the trails may be open only for events. There is also Caprock canyons, haven't been there, but it looks like there would be great photo ops at least.

Recommendations for spots around Lubbock?

I'm going to be driving out to Lubbock from Dallas in March. I would like to take a small excursion while I'm out that way for some photography fun as well as some jeeping. Anybody have any favorite spots that are either between Lubbock and Dallas or possibly 2-3 hours away from Lubbock? I'm pretty open to anywhere, even up into Oklahoma, so please drop your ideas here!
