|JeepSurfer||Be sure and check the bolts on the transmission mount. The nutserts on mine went and it was in no danger of falling out, but it did cause the mount to shift a hair upon acceleration.|

|SuperMidget||does the driveshaft move, or the pinion? i had a pinion bearing make one heck of a racket under power just before it blew and destroyed everything but the shafts in the rear axle|

I noticed a clanking on my '94. Not 10 miles later, the driveshaft let loose at the rear, spun around and took out the muffler before it fell off.
I stopped (obviously) picked up the driveshaft and drive home on the front axle.

|Drpinkydo||It shouldn't move at all.|

|Entoxicated||Drive shaft does give a little when I shake it from side to side. How much should it budge? I did just replace the U joint connecting to the differential recently but not the other one.|

|icicle||I was going to mention U-joints, so instead of being original I echo beachcruiser, check and see how much your DS moves|

|Beachcruiser||Crawl underneath & try to wiggle your rear driveshaft. A U joint going south will often be quiet when coasting.|

|BadMojo11||I'd check the heat shield that is above the catalytic converter. Could have rusted itself loose. I removed mine long ago.|

I need some help!
I was driving to work yesterday when I started to notice a clanking noise that was rattling my jeep as I drove on the highway. I didn't have time to play around with it until after work and a little this morning. I really have no idea what the problem is. Here is what I've found:
- It only happens above 35 mph when I step on the gas (I can press on it lightly without the problem occurring)
- It can be in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, again, just as long as I step on the gas. I can coast and there won't be any problem.
- It doesn't matter what rpm I'm at, I can be at 500 or 2500 and it happens regardless.
My jeep is a manual 95 YJ. I need some help figuring this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
