Meangreeny Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna check spring numbers today. The shocks are designed for a 2.5 to 3 inch lift... I wasn't sure what bumper winch combo yet... But my tax refund is trying to burn thru my pocket. I'm also a pretty stocky 215lb so I may try the bumper sit trick

whetstone What is the weight of the bumper/winch? Try setting that much weight on the existing setup and seeing if there's any difference...

kjeeper10 Like mentioned it really depends on your spring rate. 18/58's will fare better then 13/54's

Some folks will add a 1" spacer up front to level the jeep and help with a bumper/winch.

BeyondYourFrontDoor A lot of variables in play, but the short overhangs of the JK mean weight on the ends isn't as big a factor as some other vehicles. A winch and bumper could be 75 to 200lbs... so go sit on your front bumper and that will give you a rough idea of what is going to happen. I have fairly soft aftermarket springs, and I didn't find the squat on them that different after I put my winch on...

I suggest measuring ride height beforehand, then adding the bumpers and winch, and measuring again. You may be surprised how little the stock springs sag.

MTH I retitled this thread to give you a better chance of folks actually clicking on it to provide answers. "Help please" is a surefire way to get a thread ignored.

Factory springs are going to struggle with steel bumpers and a winch. Having 4 door coils would likely help, though you'll want to check the part numbers on your current springs versus the part numbers on the donor to get a sense of the improvement.

The best alternative would be to simply buy aftermarket 2.5" coils that are meant to handle the weight. You could then likely sell the budget boost coils to get back (a few) bucks.

Your current shocks, if designed for 2.5" of lift, will probably do fine.

cmaggi2 What is the spring rate on your current setup? Look at the tags on the coil. Just the last two numbers.
What shocks do you have?
Are they for a lift?
