Lusus_Naturae I considered it a normal Jeep sound.

Jeeps_and_Boats A lot of vehicles do this till stuff gets warmed up. No biggie. But not exclusive to jeep.

tschuler Thanks for all the responses. I'm really glad to hear that I'm not the only one out there.

bengen1 i finally got sick of mine doing it whether it was cold, hot, dry, wet. all i had to do was barely depress brake and it would groan at was only the right rear...i used caliper grease on the sliders and piston and now it hardly ever does it.

Dalmatians Mine makes a moan when I back slowly. I guess I should make sure there isn't something dying stuck up in there though.

DallasJKU Not sure I would call it normal, but it is normal for Jeeps or at least the one I have also does the same thing. I have just learned to live with it or I let off the brake faster to avoid the sound. I hate it, but I will get over it.

Focushere Mine is two months old and it does the same thing. Wife complains about it, but it is a normal sound. Once I get the brakes warmed up, I don't hear it. I have rented Jeeps every year for the last 20 years when my family vacations in Colorado. Everyone of those Jeeps have braking and suspension noises. I figure this thing is made more like a tractor than a car. Noises are just part of it.

Mine is new and it does the same thing. I doubt it's anything to worry about.

You might be able to change the pads to a different compound, but give it more time. It may just go away.

SilverSport Slight pressure on the brakes causing the pads to drag on the rotors will sometimes cause this sound.

Moaning/Squeeky Sound Coming From Wheelwells

I have a 2013 Unlimited and was loving it until I had been hearing this moaning/squeeking sound coming from my Jeep for about 3 weeks. Finally realizing it wasn't just going to go away, I figured I'd take it in to the dealer and have it checked out. This sound happens usually when I first turn it on and start to back up, or when I'm driving slowly with slight brake applied. The dealer mechanic said this was just normal sounds that the Wrangler made. His exact words. He also said he compared it to other Jeeps and said that this is standard. I can't exactly imagine this just being "standard", so I was wondering if anybody else had ever heard this. And if so, is this normal, or is there something I can do about it?
