HK_Runner Nothing sands and repairs quite as easily as steel. Steel holds up the best as well. FB and carbon fiber are expensive to repair and very few people know how to do it well.

Yea just screwed in and then I put some fiberglass reenforcement and resin over everything to give it added strength and a smoother built in look with just boating left overs I had. Kinda hard to see once it got painted over.

Yea the engine is ready for a bath BIG TIME. I am ashamed at the dirty little secret that hides beneath the hood lol. I already bought some engine cleaner though just waiting on the motivation to kick in now lol.

Yes I saw the ONE pic you posted in this thread. But here's what you said in post #205: Yes there is a place for the hood prop and yea I can post some pics. Latch was pretty simple I'll show pics of it too. I tried last night but it was dark and the flash drowned out the picture. The wife stole it today so when it comes home i'll show some under the hood

Based on your comments I mistakenly expected pics of the underside, hence the joke about without pics it didn't happen. And then you tell em I need glasses. No biggie though.

0-2 on delivery. The box was open like a taco shape the second delivery, also when the driver opened the door nothing was even secured, boxes where just bouncing off each other with no tie downs. It was a free for all in there. Not enough time to repair and paint before departure. So sad.

Oh well. I'll get it going upon return. Stay tuned for Natural Pearl Green in a month or so!

Keep the pictures coming guys who have theirs installed! They look amazing!
Yea your definately not having luck in the shipping area. The fella who brought mine did a good job but im in Tennessee so who knows which companies are subcontracted out to ship. Good news is, 3rd time is the charm lol.

Welcome! I'm glad others loved this hood as much as I do. It will be cool to see others pics of this hood in different colors too. I love the way it changes the look of the jeep... And others must too because its the first thing other jeepers notice and they just drool over it lol.

Beauty n function... The best of both worlds!

Ok so yea you have to get it painted. The AEV hood is $800 primer only then it costs another $200 for shipping alone and then you have to get it painted locally or pay the ridiculous cost they charge to paint it for you. Total about $1200-15000.00 versus RK Sport $695 hood, FREE SHIPPING (time limit?) and paint it at your local shop for $250ish. Your getting alot for your money.

This thread was never once started with the idea that this was a cheap mod, this is a serious modification to your vehicle such as wheels/tires or your lift.

Well luckily I had a friend in the body shop help me so the price I paid wouldnt be accurate but I asked for the forums sake what the price would be and he said since its a totally unfinished fiberglass hood it would be around $250.00 to paint. They obviously have to do the underneath side as well. I chose not to have the stainless steel painted on mine.

One thing that is not done on the this hood is the hood latch. There are no holes for the latch to be transfered. Technically with a Jeep you wouldn't have to have it I don't guess but I wanted mine on there so I added it. The Hinge area was spot on perfect as was the windshield wiper fluid port and the hood latches. The fluid port is a little thicker on the new style that the OEM one but no probs.

For the water worriers here, no worries at all. I hosed this thing down with the water hose during its bath and when finished I popped the hood to expose a completely dry motor. There are drains inside to dispell the water from the engine. I sprayed full power and on soak every possible angle I could to get water in there and not a drop. It also rained (mild shower) on it first night home and I popped the hood after a 30 minute trip through town and it was dry.

I do not know the specs but the fiberglass one felt about 15 pounds lighter to me than the OEM hood did.

If you know anyone needing a black OEM hood in perfect condition, its headed to the classifieds for $250.00
