debruins yeah it should be added i have 35's and 3.73's so that could be the reason and the only other jeep ive driven had a plow so i have no experience with regular jeeps going that fast

Rawkon the rattle isnt right, just something loose behind the dash,

your TPS or IAC may be dirty which would explain the low rpms.

unless you have a 4 banger you should get to 70 no problemo. i get there in no time with 33s and 3.73s with my 3 speed auto.

wavebacktothetj I can help with the steering moan I had that if you open your hood and see where your sterring column runs through the firewall there is a rubber grommet, lube that up with some silicone and I would spray some behind the steering wheel also, that was the problem with me, sorry I can't help with the rattle.

debruins no idea about #1 i dont have experience with it but as for #2 thats normal ur jeep is made for low speed off road crawling and not for highspeed highway use, be glad ur jeep can make it to 65 mph! haha mine looses its umph at around 55 and takes a while to climb up to the 70 range

#3 is low seems like u have a vacuum problem wince it has to do with the air, it should idle at like 800 all the time i think and definitely shouldn't shutter at idle

Normal Behavior or is this Jeep having problems?

I became a proud Jeep owner last September, and absolutely love it, but gotta say it has some quirks about it I can't figure out. I am hoping I can get some light shed on this ambiguous truck.

First thing is a strong rattle felt in the dashboard at low RPM's. Sometimes the steering seems to "howl" or "moan" at low speeds also. This rattle is annoying and seems to suggest something is loose and vibrating? Can't figure it out and it's constant. I.E. turning into a parking space, it rattles excessively and is very loud.

Second thing is acceleration. It does fine but by no means is it smooth, and it seems to almost choke a lit bit around 65 mph.

Third thing is the idle. What is normal for this truck? Mine is idling anywhere from 400-500 rpm when heat/air is on, and drops as low as 300 rpm when the heat/air is off. It seems low to me and I can feel it vibrating under my feet.

I dunno. This could be normal Jeep behavior or it could some underlying problems. Either way it's driving me nuts....any suggestions?
