If you do Sperry Wash I would love to go. But I think I am booked that weekend. Have done it on my quad it is amazing!

JoeBot13 Gonna end up pushing this run back a bit until early May ... Crittert has a BB military run (all will be invited) in the works and this run is gonna be one of the trail options ... may pre-run it mid-April ... I'll post up here if that happens ... Thanks for the interest!

yeeper5150 Any updates for this run? I have a newbie that just purchased a really clean lj that is itching to put his rig in 4 low and Pontiac sluice is a great run

JoeBot13 Touchť ... This run isn't set in stone yet ... If you can make it that would be awesome ... If not ill be doing quite a bit this summer ... Gotta squeeze in as much wheeling as I can ... Only have about a year left here

iwaxmyjimmy Normally we only get the 2 day and the 4 day off. And during white weeks we actually do our own training like ranges or shoot houses, and sometimes team/squad live fires.

JoeBot13 That's why I plan so far out ... I go off the training schedule ... This weekend is during a white week ... No training
02-09-2013 11:22 PM
iwaxmyjimmy I really need to sit down with my platoon sgt and/or PL and see what days I can plan around. I just want to wheel lol

JoeBot13 Would be glad to have you along!! ... it's far off for me as well so as it gets closer we'll actually start planning out the details ...

Rattlesnake Canyon
Trail heads south from Johnson Valley through the Bighorn Mountain Wilderness and into the eastern portion of San Bernardino Mountains and connects with 2N02. The trail itself is desert terrain, mostly in a sandy wash with some rocky areas, rated Moderate and suitable for any stock 4x4. (There are some extremely difficult spurs, including Mottino Wash. If interest arises, time can be allotted for those who want to tackle Mottino. Iíll take pics for you.) Lots of cool history in this area with active ranches and some open mines.

Pontiac Sluice/Heartbreak Ridge
Pontiac Sluice is an unmarked sidetrail off of 2N61Y. Transitions from desert to some pines. It has pretty significant rock gardens with large boulders and an opportunity to flex a bit. The trail can be rated difficult, depending on your line. 31s with a locker, skid plates and high clearance is recommended. Stockers can handle this for the most part, might need a tug or two. Body damage is always a risk. At the top of the trail is a memorial for an Iraqi Freedom veteran who was KIA.

Here is a link to GPS tracks for the trail

Altogether this is about 30 miles of trail. Iíd like to go with at least 3 rigs but will take as many that want to come. Anyone with experience on this trail will get put up front.

I have been wanting to do this run up Rattlesnake for a while now but the opportunity never comes. I would like to do this run and will plan on it at this time but it is still a ways off and who knows what may happen in the meantime. I will keep an eye on this and see if anything changes as well.

suicideking I'll be a maybe, still to far away to tell. I've done Pontiac and Heartbreak, but haven't done Rattlesnake or Motino.

Here's some video, didn't film much that day though. Some cool mines in the area.

Tip Top, Hearbreak, Pontiac - YouTube

Rattlesnake Canyon to Pontiac Sluice/Heartbreak Ridge - 4/6

I'm trying to gather interest for this run during the first or second weekend in April (Two or three weeks after the Turdhurdler Event). Figure it would be a symbolic transition from my desert season to my mountain season.

Looking to run Rattlesnake Canyon to Pontiac Sluice. Would like to get at least a couple rigs to go with ... but will take as many that want to come.

I'll be running on 33s open difs/stocker height. I've done worse with less, but I'd recommend at least 31s with a locker and appropriate body armor/skid plates.
