If you want to take this route try to get dual citizenship so you only pay taxes to the country your working at. If you use your U.S. Passport for the work visa you will be taxed US and the place your working at. I was lucky my mother was Dutch and I keep her citizenry as well as US.|

I love what I do; I'm very proud of my accomplishments and can say with certainty that I've had profound impact on people's lives. I never regret the sacrifices, but it has taken its toll. It's a very taxing profession. I'm not the same person I was before I joined. Some changes have been good. Some will haunt me forever.
Now I get to teach the next generation, kids that's were in diapers when I joined. This is what I'll be doing for the next few years until I retire, but once I do I'm out for good. I've got very specialized skills that don't apply to the civilian world but I would sooner be a Walmart greeter than work this job a day past my retirement.
So Steve? Where does one pick up an application to clean your toilets? Seriously though I would love to get in on a job like you have, I could totally spend the day tinkering and putting things together. Two words come to mind, road test!
