JeepGuy61 When i get new tires I am going to take it to a new local shop opened a couple weeks ago and there was 2 lifted wrangler's on the lifts and 3 in the lot so I'm assuming they know about lifted vehicles but they also come recommended from a family friend that grew up with the owner hopefully they can fix the issue. Also I was running super swampers so from what I'm told the road use will also wear those down really fast. I'm going to switch to general grabbers and with a good front end shop hopefully problem solved

The ball joints are on the ends of the solid part. The C's. They allow the front spindles to turn. Older straight axles had King Pins.

fubar 1958 Sometimes once a tire has started a wear pattern it'simpossible to change it! Have the tires rotated and install the new on the rear and have your alignment checked again. Also make sure you rotate your tires every 3000 miles, most shops recommend every 6000 but I have found with oversized tires it helps to do it more often!

KACook My 93 has a straight axel, where are the Ball Joints?? Am I missing something here?

As far a tire pressure goes, High pressure wears the middle and Low pressure wears to the outside.

You may want to go to a diffrent front end shop. Some techs are better than others when it comes to non stock vehicles.

Gunner Three things. What is your toe in reading, your caster reading and how much backspace on your wheels. Since you said it seemed to be on the outside first I would look at the caster and scrub radius on the tire. Big caster and excessive scrub will increase the wear on your tires when you make turns. Also too much toe in will cause very accelerated wear. Any sudden changes in steering wheel angles when driving forward might indicate a bent tie rod causing excess toe in.

JeepGuy61 I had someone tell me today to see if my shocks are bad and that could cause it. Anyone know a good way to check them without going to a shop

JeepGuy61 Yea all ball joints are good were replaced in October during inspection and I just checked them again last week to be sure. I'm so clueless at this point

stuntmansjeep I have the same problem and have been doing a bunch of stuff with the front end to fix it and I've only slowed down the wearing. But you've already done what I've done

RandomYJguy Which shouldn't make them wear that fast... Your sure the ball joints are good? Wheel hubs? I'm assuming those are good since they did do an alignment on your.vehicle..

JeepGuy61 I cant remember exact psi at the moment but last I checked which was maybe a week ago they were about 5psi under the max

RandomYJguy What is your tire psi at? They might be under or over inflated. Can never remember which symptoms are which.

help crazy wear on front tires

I got my yj in August of last year it had bend new 33" super swampers now 5000 miles later the fronts look like drag slicks. When I got it I had new upper and lower ball joints pit in for inspection along with the whole tie rod assembly. When I first noticed the tires wearing fast and mostly to the outside I took it to a local shop had them rebalanced and an alignment done that was 2500 miles ago the tires still wore out the same way and the rear tires are still like new. Does anyone have an idea why this would happen. I'm gonna get new tires shortly but I don't want to have the same problem over and over. By the way its a 94 yj lifted 6" has a ford 8.8 in the rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated
