I had a YJ before I got my TJ and I hated the way the leaf springs rode and wanted a smoother ride, I was going to do the GenRight setup but decided to sell and buy a TJ and start from there. I would say do the GenRight setup but if you don't mind the leaf just get a good leaf. Don't really know any kit great kits for the leaf setup but I would say RE or OME??

Completely agree with you on the interior - that's why I have a YJ too.

I wasn't being flippant in my first response - you will spend a ton of money on the swap, and may not be that happy with the results.

Consider another alternative, which would be to buy a TJ and make the interior look like a YJ or CJ... (personally, I'd recommend a metal dash CJ-look!) I'm not sure if anyone has undertaken something like this, but it might be easier than a full suspension swap.

EMTJEEP ProComp sells a coil lift kit conversion that I think is completely bolt on. But then again it's ProComp and it's bolt on. If you want to do coils and that you are mechanically inclined I would suggest looking at GenRight kit. It's a 3/4 link setup and only needs the brackets to be welded on. It's what I have on my TJ and I think it's great.

Here's the ProComp

00tj2 I would say yes, simply for the fact that you haven't done enough research. I'm not trying to be rude but that is a pretty big undertaking and usually done by people that have more than a week in jeep modifications(not sure how much time You have in other vehicle modification so im taking it you only have one week of experience?) Although if you are ambitious, skilled, and determined enough I'm sure you can do it! That being said there is a bolt/weld on kit to convert the YJ to coils (cant remember who makes it) but with the new leaf spring suspensions I would think you'd be better off just getting quality leafs and call it a day. If you do decide to do it I would def like to see your progress

91 Wrangler Coil Suspension

Hey guys,

I am very new (1 week) to the jeep modification world and need some help. I have seen lots of kits out there for TJ and newer coil suspension setups but none for the YJ, can this modification be done without a lot of frame rework and wielding? I've done leaf spring modifications before and they are pretty straight forward. Am I in over my head for a first time coil suspension system?

Dylan
