You'll just have to take the soft top bows off at the brackets on the roll bars, take off the door surrounds, then take off the window bar brackets....four screws, four small torx bolts, and four knobs to loosen. I do it every year.

BlackHawkTJ I have heard that you can play with the drill on windshield channels to get them to fit under your hardtop, if that's the way you want to go. I have a Supertop with the removable windshield channel, I do the switch once a year and it takes less than forty-five minutes, which seems easier than trying to get your soft top hardware to fit under the hardtop. My soft doors fit with the hard top with no problems, as far as I know there isn't a door-top configuration that won't fit. The hard top is definitely a two man lift.

emills I also have both tops and it is not a pain to swap them at all. I have one of the hard top hoists in my garage. With that - I can go from one top to the other in about 30minutes or so. I just store my soft top folded up on the side of the garage during the winter and the hard top hangs from the ceiling in the garage for the rest of the year.

Jeepn13 Most definately there is a way to put a hard top on your Jeep!! That's what is great about these Jeeps. It's pretty simple, for easier installation the soft top and the door surrounds come off and the hard top gets set right in place. In the rear of the Jeep on eaither side of the back seat are 3 bolts that hold the hard top down and then Just how your soft top attaches to the winshield is the same on the hard top. And now you have a hard top. Hope this helped

Questions regarding Soft top-hard top interchangeability

I have a 2005 soft top with half doors... is there a way to put a hard top on my jeep?

Hondarider I used to completely remove my soft top...brackets and all...when I was installing my hard top each Fall...it wasn't difficult at all...then I would store the soft top 'til Spring and swap back. Swapping doesn't take more than an hour but I'd use two people for the hard top...it's awkward to carry by yourself.

no problem

I've both tops from factory. You can fold the soft back and install the hardtop no problem. Except for storage! none left! My wrangler is an unlimited, i'm not sure if the shorter units have this abilitie.

asdpoiu The jeep is a 2002 x that came with a hard top, I am trying to pick the best soft top. Thanks for the replies.

4Jeepn Well the dual top option from the factory came with the soft top in the jeep.. so they both can fit. However I never could get it folded right to fit it with the hard top. I just undid the mounts at the roll bar and stored the top. Remove the upper door surrounds and your good to go.

05GT-O.C.D. I think they can be, because there was a dual top option from the factory. I know I can fold my softtop back and have it completely behind the rear seat, so I don't think that would interfere w/ the hardtop. What year is your Jeep?

Can Hard Tops and Soft Tops be Easily Interchanged?

Specifically I am wondering if the soft top channels and other hardware need to be removed to go back to a hard top in the fall? Thanks.
