I called clothing shops and apparel places and I told them my zipper on my Jeep door needed to be replaced, they did it for $30

cnolan76 Well I finally got everything partially back together. The back window is in and zipped up, but the beginning and end of the zipper are coming apart. Any clue how to get them back together?

Blacky wd40 and a coat hanger or pliers to get some leverage works alright.

cnolan76 I took my soft top off yesterday and when I attemped to put it back on i messed up my zipper. When I was zipping the back window back in I pulled it too hard and the zipper seperated about halfway through the process. So now my zipper is halfway zipped but the zipper is not connected on either side of the zipper. Wow! (that is alot of zipps in one sentence) I finally yanked on it enough that I got everything apart, but one of the zippers came off the track.

the actual pull tab ? or the entire zipper thing itself ?

if its just the pull tab, im sure you can either get a replacement tab for it, or make one yourself. just stick something through there, like a string or wire or heck anything really.

if its the actual zipper itself , then im sure you can get a replacement for that also. id try some arts and crafts stores, or maybe a clothing alterations shop.
take em the window (once you get it off) so they can get the teeth count of the zipper. and im sure they could point you in the right direction.

i think i would steer clear of the vaseline for the reasons you said.

im gonna go get some silicone spray for mine once the weather warms up enough to take the windows out.

Duck Dodgers I have found a couple of things are a factor in stuck zippers. 1. The top might need to be shifted a bit to bring the sides a bit closer together. 2. The zippers dry up need lube. I use silicon spray on them and it works great. 3. if the zipper is separating or won't close try taking a pair of pliers and gently squeeze the sides of the pull. This crimps the zipper pull back to it original position. Check Bestops web site for tips. Here is a link to a PDF @ Bestop on how to fix the zipper on door bag, but it's the same concept. spanky my back window always seem to need a little persuasion. never to the point of totally jammed. did you try some pliers? maybe a little wd 40 or something? is it caught on something or just being stubborn?

the best thing i can suggest is having that whole back window "warm"

when its cold out, its stiff and does not want to seem to give. but on a warm or better yet a hot day, it will be much easier to zip and unzip.

my best suggestion is to get that window warmed up. maybe have it in a warm garage overnight. thats not really an option for most. try taking a hair dryer and an extension cord to try and warm it up some.

heck maybe even running your jeep with the heater blasting on high heat for long enough to warm up the inside might be enough.

what ever you end up doing, try to warm it up without too much heat though! melting is much worse than a stuck zipper!
