|Ditchdoc||It's only a matter of time. Sierra club has been lobbying for years to close all open areas in California and the rest of the US. They are getting a lot of money from foreign energy companies that want the area to generate and sell us the energy. Blythe, Mohave and hinkly are just the start.|

I just read that the Hammers have been saved
It sounds like all the petitions and voices of the off road communities have been heard. It's nice to see something work for a once, lol.

|Tanks||The only time I would go out alone is somewhere easy in good weather. But always telling someone when I would be back. I am guilty of going up to Gorman all the time to introduce people to jeeping but there is generally cell service in the OHV park because of I5. That said, Go out alone, you're on your own.|

Going with others is often hard to do. Being a hermit from a hermit family. I've been going alone for decades.
Probably not the smartest thing but if given the choice of not going or going alone. I'm gone.

|Serg5000||I understand the never go alone. However, it's not always possible to have someone with you. Not to mention they aren't always able to go at the time you can. We go out to the Angeles national forest alone all the time. It's mostly dirt roads and fire breaks. We always tell our kids (over 18) where we are heading. And when to expect us back. We have been very lucky to have made it back so far. The trips we always make sure we have a companion is when Rock climbing or any trail rated above Easy.|

I'm happy this ended on a positive note and hopefully they will never go out alone again.[/QUOTE]
These people must have been rookies. As much wilderness there is around that area, they were downright foolish to go alone. I don't even go to Starbucks without someone knowing where I was headed.
I'm with you, glad that it turned out at well as it did and hope they have learned a valuable lesson about wheeling.

Mike used to laugh at me for keeping protein bars stashed all over my old TJ, I notice he's got a few in his now., lol.

The Jeep actually came with a newer Bestop soft top and it has the full hard doors. I'm thinking of getting him a couple rotopax gas cans if the kids haven't already. Otherwise, he gets his headlights, a couple other little things and that's it. He will be happy with that
He's actually going to need tires before too long, maybe our anniversary in May I can do that. Hopefully we have our BB place before then, two more we liked got offers the day they came on the market We're headed up this weekend with another list in hand, lol.
