Yea curious why????

Cause last time I checked & heard, those with lockers or LSD either need the friction additive or use Synthetic with takes the place of the additive.

I've been use Royal Purple & Mobil 1 Syn and have no issues and also know numerous others that are running it as well.

Also while your picking up supplies to change the diffs, pickup a set of the Lube Locker Diff Gaskets, makes changing them a breeze, especially if offroading alot in mud & water or benng submersed. You can get multiple uses out of gasket and no waiting for RTV tocure or to carry with on the trail as well.

Why not? Will it Damage the diffs? Or just not worth the expense?

nater344 Definetly change the fluids, as the guy before you may not have! It's also a good piece of mind.

wavebacktothetj of course they have breather hoses, yeah but you need to flush and refill your diff fluid just dont put to much in there it will start coming out of the breather hose, put enough in there so it is level with the fill plug and I always put in some limited slip in mine as well

stevens243 The book says to change the diff fluids at 12 and 36K miles and the transfer case fluid at 30K.

If you take the jeep swimming, change the diff fluid when you get back unless you have breather line up and out of the water. Always check the transmission fluid after getting it wet too.

It's due. Change the fluids.

Giancarlo never hurts to do this... do not put synthetics in the diffs... and those are services that are very easy to do yourself and can save you a lot of money and can help you to better understand the underside of ur wrangler

Diff and Transfer case fluids

Hey, I'm in my second Jeep TJ, and I love it. 2004 Sport with 55,000 miles on it. Last time I had it in for an oil change the mechanic suggested I change out the fluids in the transfer case and the front and rear differential. I wouldn't think you'd need to do that after only 55,000 miles. Any advice?
