Denvereric Attachment 210058Thanks guys. I should have an update later today. Man, $12.8k for 30k miles. Not around denver that I've seen. There are some with 20-30k for over 20 grand. One was listed for 13.8 with a softop ard 100k miles. I hope I am back here posting pics. Speaking of pics, this is my brother in laws recent fj project

JDsDream If it has 130 on it, I doubt very seriously that you would have an OPDA issue.
I would offer 10,000, but 11,000 is not a bad deal. This is the shortest model production run for Wrangler (3 years) so they don't come around too often.

Jealous. California here. Just about any rust-free LJ with less than 60,000 goes for $17-19k.

SS Adrenaline Can you negociate down alittle further? You need to be aware of some opda issues on the 05 and 06s. its a fixable thing thought.

The 4.0 will last a long time as long as you check out the opda for signs of wear.
Good luck, post some pics.

dbsanders I too am looking for an LJ. I've seen many with new or rebuilt auto transmissions around 80-90k. Not sure if others would agree, but from what I've seen, I believe that is somewhat "normal" for this transmission, needing work around that age.

Denvereric Thank you. My father in law is a "car guy" that worked on my brother in law's YJ. He is actually test driving it and looking it over for me as he lives near the seller. He plans to test the 4WD hi and lo in a dirt lot.

It seems like every one of these I have looked at in Denver has some fluids on the driveshaft or coming from the transmission area. Is that common? I test drove an automatic with 135K miles today and the tranny slipped when you took off or gunned it. I am hoping this one is in better condition if they were highway miles.

jeepwayoflife 130,000 miles is most likely fine for a wrangler 4.0, where the engines can go 250,000+ miles before a rebuild. I would make sure that the 4wd engages properly since it wasn't used too much. If everything checks out, I would go for it, especially if thats a good price for jeeps in your area. My dad sold his YJ with something like 260,000 miles including hard 4wheeling quite often.

2006 LJ Price - need experienced owner's help

New post - had tagged on to an older one but figured I should begin anew.

First off - thanks ahead of time for all your help - I have been spending countless hours on this site over the last two months. It is a wealth of info and provides wisdom from those that have been there and done that. I almost bit on the first TJ I test drove but came back here and read more and took many poster's good advice - be patient! I have tested about 4 more with mixed results and looked at about 100 online.

Ultimately, I want an LJ because I will be hauling 2 kids, a dog, a wife and a cooler of beer/camping equipment/showshoes/etc. I also want a hard top as I will use this in the snow in Denver/mtns when needed.

Please give me your thoughts on a very clean/in and out and UNDER - Jeep Wrangler LJ - hard top - auto. here is the kicker -- 130,000 miles on it...super CLEAN carfax (which I know can be worthless but it does have a series of good checkups - they add $920 to retail). PrevOwner/ONE owner - middle aged lady that drove it about 120 highway miles round trip multiple times a week to work and back - hence the high miles. Very rarely used 4WD. NEVER off road. I can get it for $11K. It is near impossible to find LJ's that don't cost an arm and a leg in denver and I have been looking for months. My budget was $9K so I can't push this up into the teens or Rubicon zone. Thanks very much for all your input. EJ
