Yea does kinda look like that but I wonder how that affects sound quality unless they fiberglassed or enclosed those ends somehow

I will probably leave the bars that run from the fatory bar to the rear bar off until I can find a decently priced set of wedges from a newer tj

Sounds like a good idea. Might end up Doug something similar. Darn it's a weld in kit. And I don't know why the post has the thumbs down thing at the top lol I didn't put it there on purpose

This was pretty much how I felt, too--I wanted to keep the main hoop and rear legs, but build upon them for added protection. Instead of going with a kit that wasn't exactly what I wanted, I had a local fabricator friend make a custom setup to my design. He started with straight DOM tubing and a bender, then ended with this (after I had it painted):

The front legs go through the dash and down to the floor:

Perhaps you could do something similar.

X2

AtoZ fab.
I have both front and back in my TJ. Notched my sound bar and it rides on to of the stringers. Stiffened it up nicely. When I tumbled it, I walked, no drove away with minimal damage and no injures.

This is a good kit. I was thinking of this kit or PSC. I went with PSC and the rear spreader kit.

That's a nice looking cage and is pretty reasonably priced to would just need to add a rear spreader to it

U can get just the front section and then the one bar to go across the back, only thing I don't like about that cage is I saw it in the special deals section and asked the vendor about if it replaced the stock plastic sections were the door surrounds mount to and the vendor said it retained those, don't really understand y I would want it to be steel there and not plastic

JGreen06TJ I like the look of the Rockhard sport cage and will probably look into that product for light offroading. Debating which to do first, regear with lockers or add sport cage to tighten everything up.

DBoat rockhard 4x4 and smittybilt both have a sports cage that is a bolt on. and poisonspyder has a weld in sports cage too.

Upgrading the sports bars

Ok so I'm looking to stiffen up the stock sport bars. I would like to keep the original bars and not replace the whole thing and would like to keep the sound bar as well. I just want a little more security is all. If I could get something that goes down the Windsheild and some cross bars for the back I'd be happy. Anyone know of anything I could get? If not ill end up saving for a full cage.
