|doclouie||I would recommend cutting off the boot. It traps dirt and grim in long after you are done wheeling. Do a search and you will see most people agree to leave them off.|

|AZJEEPIN||I have the budget lift on my 97. I've got Rancho 9000s under it, too. It rides good and I fit 32" Wranglers under it with very little rub in extreme situations. New guy here - dumb question - how do I start a new thread?|

|kdukes4||its okay, not a big deal. you have two choices. a) just install them w/o the booty's or b) order some offline and wait..... I've heard that some don't like the booty b/c it holds in moisture and dirt with the shock, leading to quicker deterioration of shock life. I guess its just up to you. I decided to throw the boots on anyways. I don't do enough off roading in the dirt for it to make too much of a difference. Living in maine, i feel like the boot could help protect the poor things from the salt and sand during the winters....|

|kdukes4||ya, definitely spray all of those bolts and nuts!!!! the front bolts to the shocks will probably snap off when you're taking them off. but for $6 you can get new ones at Home Depot. i just threw some 10mmx15mm maybe?( i cant remember) with washers and nuts. just bring one bolt with you to compare. RENT Spring compressors!!! But be careful! VIP will sell them to you for $40, use them and bring them back with the receipt and they'll give you your money back. i had a friend who had 5 stitches put in to his finger b/c the damn spring compressor gave a little while his hand was holding it.|

BuTTTTTTT.... If i were you. be prepared to spend some quality time on the project. It took me all evening and the next morning to get the job complete. It didnt help that everything hadn't been touched for 12 years... definitely PB Blast the bolts, nuts, sway bar, track bars, etc. every evening a couple days in advance. G'luck!
Did you do the shocks from rocky road too?

every jeep is definitely different and i don't think i'd call the skyjackers cheap either. compared to the more expensive nitro's, they're known to ride a heck of a lot better. just perhabs some unfortunate luck that fell on your side woods453

|jbone303||woods453 Sounds like you got shock problems rather than bb problems. I have a 98 se and all i did was toss in the spacers, left the shocks alone, and slapped on some superswampers and got Muddy. I know every jeep is diffrent but i had no change in drivability with the 2 in bb. I even ran superwampers with no probs.|

|woods453||I wouldn't recommend a budget boost. I regretfully have had mine on for 4 years. The problems are the cheap shocks and the death wobble. Driving on cheap shocks is like not having any shocks at all; you feel every crack in the road.|

This is my 97' TJ with 30x9.5 BFG A/T's with factory isolators and 1" BB front and rear,
This is with 31x10.5 Maxis Buckshot Mudders with factory isolators front and rear and 2" BB on front and 1" BB on rear to get the TJ to sit level,
Put the winch on and it sagged in the front again so I did some more changing the setup. This is with the winch, 31x10.5 Buckshot Mudders, Factory isolator removed with 3" BB on front (approx. 2.5 from stock wit isolator) and factory isolator and 1" BB on rear to get it sitting level again,
Shocks have been upgraded with Rancho's.
Hope this gives some idea on amount of spacers needed.

Got the spacers in with new skyjacker hydros and also threw on the center caps! Looks a lot better and rides awesome!

|kdukes4||i picked up a full 2" BB from a guy back home. however. its only the spacers and nothing else... i'm also probably going to order skyjacker hydros that are extended 3" and do the whole installation at one time....in write ups i've seen other parts. i.e. bumpstop, and bolts that go with the BB..... what should i be prepared to purchase to make this installation easy and what sizes?|

|1BLKJP||Yeah, when you put the 2" spacers in it will give you more up travel, but less droop. Having the appropriate length shocks will give you the best of both worlds. However changing shocks is easy stuff so I wouldn't let that deter you from putting your spacers in.|

|kdukes4||it's been three months now, and no complete lift... i have acquired a set of 2" spacers for the BB, but now that I'm realizing the process of installing them, i think it would be in my best interest to replace my 12 year old shox now. I'm still favoring the rockyroad shox cuz Jeep Wrangler, CJ, Unlimited, and Rubicon shocks i haven't found anything out there that you'll most likely get your moneys worth when your riding just a 2" BB besides OME. But there's no need to look to replace springs and stuff right? And would buying a longer shock do anything? maybe work out later in the future with Q Discos? Still learning.....|

well i think i'm gonna go with the 2" kit, i just made up some cash on the market today and decided that i should reward myself. haha. plus with the 2" kit i'll have a little more money too fool around with when searching for tires.

On my 2000 Sport, I used a Skyjacker 2". only problem I had was getting the bushings in the shocks
