Look, I answered her question, and gave her a lift that works - remember that 90% of Jeeps in the real world never leave pavement. You can drive around with a lesser amount of lift as long as you are bumpstopped to keep the tires out of the fenders.
She's NOT going to spend $5K setting up a '99 that can be bought outright for that amount of money, and she already has the 35" tires. I gave her a low dollar, safe alternative to run the tires. It's not the best way to go offroad, and she'll find out about the compromised acceleration, braking, steering, and handling the first time she drives it on the road.

|IslandTJ||35" is a shortcut to the Jeep money pit. Even if you were to keep the OEM suspension by high lining your fenders, the gearing, braking and steering should be considered for decent drivability.|

If you want to be able to cheaply run 35's, go buy an old beat up 1/2-3/4 ton truck. The axles and steering are up to the task of 35's and if it's a diesel don't worry about gearing. But then you lose most advantages of the TJ.
Big tires + small Jeep = $$$
No way around it.

Fitting 35's is cake. Reliably and efficiently running them is a whole different story.
To do the latter, plan on a bare minimum of $5k. That's with you doing the work. No joke. If you want to wheel where 35's are actually needed, double that number.
That's not to even mention the knowledge required to properly address and set up your suspension.

|PStov98TJ||You could get metalcloak fenders (or similar highline fenders) and get a 2.5-3" lift and run 35's. The metalcloaks will be like $900 then $300-$400 for flares. Then you'll need to upgrade your axle shafts if you have the D30 front and D35 rear. Also will probably need steering upgrades if you plan on running 35's on the trails and not just for looks. And plan on a regear.|

There is simply no way to do 35's on a budget. I am almost ready to move up from 33's to 35's. I have:
upgraded steering and brakes at 1500.00
8.8 with SYE and regear 3100.00
3 inch BDS suspension 600.00
1 inch body and motor mount lift at 150.00
next up is flat fenders and adjustable control arms and tummy tuck at 1500.
I will do the flatties once I am ready to upsize the tires. (I still have many many miles to go on the 33's. I will call today for the skid and arms...

This formula will let you run 35's, but it is not the best way to go for droop/compliance or offroad traction. What this really is is a formula to run 33's, plus and extra inch of bumpstop spacer at all four corners. I have seen this done and it works, especially on the street, but you should not disco the front swaybar.
1) 1.25" Body Lift ($80)
2) 2" Budget Boost with longer shocks ($200)
3) 1" Motor Mount Lift ($50)
4) Rear Adjustable trackbar ($200) or drop bracket ($80)
5) 2" rear and 1" front spring bumpstop extensions ($20)
6) 7" fender flares (if the law says tires must be covered) ($170)
Those 35's had best be on wheels with backspacing between 3-4" or they will rub the front swaybar terribly. Or you could use two pairs of SpyderTrax wheel spacers and stock Jeep alloy wheels 8" wide.
Basicly you should not try more than 2" suspension lift on a TJ without a slip yoke eliminator and longer rear driveshaft, which would more than double the cost of the $430 lift above.
Keep an eye out for used lifts here in the Forum, you can beat the price above. Also, if you just cannot get the rear driveshaft vibes to go away, put about three washers under the rear TC cross member mounting bolts, between the cross member and chassis. Also if the rear tires rub the shocks, and you can't adjust it out with the rear trackbar, you should use shock relocators.
You DO understand that those tires will stress brakes and steering and axles and you should have a long term plan to fix all those problems, plus regear the axles, right?

|lovethetrails5||depend u could run a 3 or 4 in with flatties 5 or 6 inch with stock fenders. to run 35 right you need upgraded rear axle like a dana 44 if u dont have one already, regear new brakes better steering new sye and rear drive shaft. to do eveything right your looking at around 5k maybe more|

Mine is a 98 it had the 2" bb and 33's were maxed out, I have since went with the 3" SL and will add the 1.25 BL soon. I had to regear my differentials because the jeep lost all power after the 33's were installed. Mucho dinero to run 35's. This is it with BB and 33's

Lifting on a budget!!
I have a 99 wrangler. I have 35" tires to put on, as of now it's bone stock. Hoe big of a lift do I need to be safe? I found some affordable leveling kits on eBay but I don't know what I need to clear it safely.
