You may want to have that looked at. I live less than 2 miles from my Crossfit gym, and when I go early in the morning I have some heat coming out of the vents in about 4 blocks. Once I'm there it's about 70% strength.

The_Chief This is why I hate electronics in cars... It's not just a Jeep thing for me... My buddy has "My Ford Touch" in his SHO, and this stupid thing will just randomly call the last person he talked to on his cell phone, among other annoying things.

I don't trust any car, so I don't "warm-up"... It's not going to ruin my little white world to sit in a cold car for a few minutes...

dgallois I've got some news for you on this... I took the truck back to the dealer who read the computer. Apparently he read a TIPM B1934 fault (whatever that means). There was a bulletin/flow chart on this and (as per the bulletin) he found moisture in the C202 left door wiring plug. The technician cleaned it, dried it, added die electric grease and taped it up. It has behaved properly since.

As for warming up the Jeep (or any car) I'm dead set against it for environmental reasons. Some folks have said they warm it up with the window open (huh????). Not me, I start it and drive it - suck it up if you're cold. The most I will warm it up is the length of time it takes to scrape the ice off the windows and lights / brush the snow off. It provides heat quite quickly there after.

If I remote start on a 25 degree day, the gauge will move 1/4 of the way and just sit there until I turn the heater off or drive off, at which point it'll start to move toward the middle allowing the engine to eventually warm up fully.

I have the auto temp setting and it's on. I know the heat on the inside is working when I remote start. That's the point of the remote start for me.

I'm not talking about just 39 degree in weather days. Even at 25, my engine warms up.

MarkinOhio Don't feel too bad, I have manual locks and keep hitting the lock with my arm when I get out, so I was lucky my passenger door was open the other night, or I would have been crawling through a window.

Also, those people whose heaters aren't working - you have a problem.

My heat will literally burn your hands. If you open the vents you can't keep your hands on the steering wheel for too long. Even when its 20 degrees and lower, mine starts blowing warm within a mile and is blowing HOT within 3-4 miles.

Just make sure noone puts that non chipped key in the ignition. The anti theft kicks in and renders the jeep immovable. May have to go to dealer to get everything reset.

Burndog Had my dog lock me out when I got out to take a pee in the snow once... I now always take the keys or leave the window down.

I guess I could turn off the auto lock feature, but I don't know if that would cure the problem.

Anybody have the same thing happen or hear of any glitches with the auto lock system?
If all the doors were locked and you opened the drvier side door to get out it is not hard to hit the lock tab or power switch with your knee and presto, your locked out. I did it one time, no more, have a spare unchipe key to get in well hid in the engine bay.

Thats what I did. I locked myself out att he entrance to a Wind Farm in TX. To far to walk in any direction. Waited for about an hr untill someone came by. Couple of minutes with a coat hanger and it was unlocked.

joeuncool Get a non chipped key and keep it in your wallet. I used to warm up my pickup all the time and intentionally lock the door. I kept a door key in my wallet to open it. It is actually not a bad idea overall. Keys are flat, easily kept in the wallet, and I never got stuck with my keys locked in the car. My wallet is always on me.

I always think this is a better idea than "hide-a-key" on the car.

Hmmm, the more I think about it... I need to get a non chipped key for my Jeep and keep it in my wallet...

Does your heater also turn on automatically?

Yes, if it's 39 degrees it will eventually warm up, but if its 19 or 25 degrees out, it won't. The heather sucks all the heat out of the coolant and doesn't allow the little V6 to get up to temp.

Are you sure you don't have an issue? Whenever I use my remote start, even sub 40 degrees, my heat gauge is right in the middle when I get in it 10 to 15 minutes later. I can't speak of 10 degree days, as I don't get that many around here... but I've never had an issue with using the remote start and my engine warming up.

ibwile I disabled the auto lock right away. Paranoid. Not sure if that would help in this situation though. One of the reasons I didn't want power in the Jeep. Never had it before so I am learning to trust it. The soft top is my get out of jail free card though. I still hid a key for convenience.

igivup Here in Saskatchewan it is always nice to have a block heater and a remote start. Just the creature comforts! A foot of blowing snow and -40 is just a good excuse to throw it into 4 wheel drive for the jaunt to work. Hard to warm up a small engine when your going 60 mph down the highway at -40, so a few minutes warm up is always a good idea for giving it a head start.

You didn't literally get frostbite and had to lose a finger. Ur hand just got a little cold. I just hop in and go without warming up the jeep, but I guess I just have a tolerance to the cold from living in wisconsin my whole life? Or maybe cuz im too cheap to waste the gas to warm it up. Or maybe because if im gunna go into the cold to start it, might as well put it in drive and go where im going.

SouthTJ X2 on the great heater michiganadam. My TJ and my JK would both roast you on high.

In regards to warming up the jeep, I know that the engine warms up pretty quickly but when it is really cold out it is nice to have my heater blowing warm air when I get in. I'll only let it run for about 5 minutes then head out. I'm often paranoid about getting locked out so now I guess I'll have to roll down the window a bit.

My 08 with 3.8 takes about a mile in the city before i start grtting heat. The heat is incredibly hot and even when im doing 70 on the highway with my soft top in 10 degree f weather...i cannot have it on full blast heat or it starts cooking me. Hell i drove it with the top down when it was 25 and the heater was good enough for that around town.

You might have a bad thermostat, heater valve sticking/not opening fully or need a cooling system flush. Or chrysler seriously made some major design errors on the 3.6....which could be, it is chrysler....
