Most of the aftermarket stuff is damaged from the rollover. You can see it from the pics but when I went off the road I went right over a traffic sign and got a huge dent in the front bumper.

The drunk got injured but I didn't interact with him at all. I'm just letting my lawyer and the police sort it out.
When my Sport Trac got totaled, it was like 2 weeks after new tires. I produced a receipt and that full amount was added to the insurance check.
Whatever you do, don't take the first offer. It may be different if you are in a no-fault state, but AFAIK most insurance companies use the same one or 2 estimating programs and always come in way low.

ohioviper Glad you are ok. Get a good lawyer and you should be able to collect for all damages to the Jeep including any mods and your health.Get them for every cent you can as your injuries could cause you problems later in life.Broken bones may heal but they will come back to cause you pain when your older.

mgola27 I'll echo what others have said. Glad you're okay and hope you have a quick recovery with no lingering after affects.

markwoodlief WOW.. that really blows.. but its assuring to see how well the jeep held up considering. I travel with three kids and dogs to the mountains a lot and need that roll bar to be sturdy,
02-24-2013 05:38 PM
StephSH Well this answers a question I had about the roll bar. My brother in law used to have a CJ7 and he said the roll bar was cosmetic, I guess now they are not. Glad you're still here and hope you have a speedy recovery.

jeepers29 Glad you are here to tell us this. Take it slow on the recovery, you don't want to rush it. Drunk drivers SUCK!

Best to let the lawyers am police to do it to! That's how I'm going about it. The ladies who hit me rolled also, she spent 1 hour in the hospital then went to jail and got out for $100. I was in the neuro ICU for 4 days!! And after my jeep was deemed total loss they were determining the value of the jeep and the only thing I did to it was do a rust proofing and Teflon coating on the paint. According to my lawyer the insurance company does not have to add to the value of the vehicle for any after market mods, and I just got lucky they gave me that. I hope for you it is different and you get compensated for your mods!

Absolutely!

Very glad to hear you did far better than just barely lived through it. Amazing pictures. Gas mileage be dammed....mass is a good thing when being struck by anything else.

One of the things I always want to know when considering a vehicle is how much does what I'm looking at weigh? Generally speaking the most weight I can buy for my money is a primary goal. When I see pictures like this is further reinforces that thought pattern. The Jeep was more of a lifestyle choice as there are certainly heavier options, but maybe the heaviest when it comes to a convertible option? For sure not going to catch me in a convertible minI I can tell you that much.
02-24-2013 03:10 PM
jadmt Any photos of the other vehicle? you were unlucky but fortunate to be alive I am glad you are able to type and tell the story.

Up Hill Bill Ouch! I hope your recovery is swift and complete.

And, enjoy your new Jeep! Are you going to wait for 2014s? Don't forget to salvage your mods, like those KC lights.

X1000

I never drink and drive and even ditched having a cell so no txt'ing distracted driving either for me... I wish I could record all the idiot distracted drivers and show them exactly how bad they do drive! I'll stop now before I start cursing but glad to know that the OP is ok...
02-24-2013 02:09 PM
wfbill I am glad to hear you are ok. It is refreshing to see the sturdiness of the Jeep. I just bought mine, it is my first. My thoughts and best wishes are with you. You needed an excuse to order a 10th Anniversary Rubi anyhow, right??
02-24-2013 01:55 PM
okstatemike Here's to a speedy recovery for you and best wishes for a good settlement and future rig.

Jeaper That terrifies me. Thank God there were no kids were in the back seat. I hate recklessness like that, including texting while driving. A single act can cause so much consequence.

hbgirl oh my, so glad you are relatively "ok" ... hope your recovery goes quickly. Just one more reason to love our Jeeps.

The words I have regarding the drunk driver are not family-friendly, so I'll just zip the lip.
