Lusus_Naturae There are threads here on both 33's and 35's with no lift. Set your mind to what you want to start with, tires and wheels or a lift - or even whether you need a lift. You have said you wheel lightly, if you go with flat fenders you can easily get the smaller running 35's to fit and have flex. You also won't have to worry about changing out driveshafts or other alignment issues, although you may want to regear later on.

You can run 33's on aftermarket wheels with no lift at all. The spacers that have been thought of as a no no usually refer to wheel spacers not lift spacers. Wheel spacers can have issues, and some places won't deal with them, but a lot of people run them without any problems too. The cost is eh, if you double what you spend on wheel spacers, you can buy some of the cheaper wheels out there instead.

tabber02 teraflex 2.5" lift, bilstein shocks, and 35s... that's a pretty popular lift around here. i believe it's somewhere in the $600 - 750 range. and it will clear 35s fine.

you don't need a huge lift to clear 35s... and if you're not going to wheel it hard... (you're doing this more for looks - and by the way... that's perfectly fine! it's your rig) i'd stay right at that 2.5" range...

I think I was trying to do too much at once. But I love the look of the 33's as well. I guess my biggest concern is using spring spacers as a lift - somehow I always thought that was a no-no

relyt Granted, mine is a 2 door, but I'm on 33s with no lift at all and have no rubbing to speak of. As far as I'm aware, the JKUs will clear the same.

The_Chief My lift is 2.5" with 33.9" KM2's... dude, you can do it.

mattdenney07 You'll be just fine. Hell, there's a bunch of people on here that stuff 35s on a 2.5" BB with the right wheels and whatnot. You go grab your 33s and a solid BB from a name brand company, then save up and trade up my friend. Don't stress about it too much. Just get out there and have fun!

And just on a side note, you can almost always find slightly used 4.10 gears out of a Rubi if you post in the Wanted forum on this site.

Before I begin, I realize that what I'm about to type out has absolutely been covered multiple times... in fact, consider this me being admittedly lazy yet curious.

This forum has essentially crushed my dreams of having a JKU with 35's and a beefy lift that's worth a s#%t on my budget.

I have a 07 Unlimited Sahara that even with out looking, combined with my luck, probably has the worst gearing scenario - combine all this with the fact that I plan on trading it in as soon as I have some positive equity in it for a newer model (estimate 2 years), what do you think about a budget lift with 33's?

It is my understanding that a 2.5 lift will more than clear 33's correct?

What sort of problems should I expect? what should I steer clear from and what should I look for? Is this a better set up that going cheep on an actual traditional shock and spring lift? All I read are bad reviews on them.

I don't see my self hitting up any trails more challenging than a unpaved road and an occasional trip to Galveston.
