I have a lincoln 3200HD, and run 0.35 flux core through it.
Argon & smaller wire won't penetrate as well.
With the heat all the way up, and wire speed around 30%, mine makes good penetration in 1/4". It's rated to 5/16ths.
It has put brackets on both an 8.8 and a hp30, built half my control arms, my steering & trackbar, frame side mounts, front bumper, and my roll cage.

You could do it, but the 110v likely wouldn't get that deep of penetration.
The idea of the axle truss is to aid in taking the forces that your axle is burdened with. If the truss isn't very solidly welded in place, you are kinda (in my book) just wasting your time and building a false sense of security.

Welding with 110v
Wondering if anyone had welded an axle truss with a 110v welder and how it would hold up?
Thanks in advance for the input.
