The vinyl stickers look great (can't tell the difference) if they applied with patience, the cost is $10.00 or so.

The grill is an easy replace, the corner Jeep is tough if you have the tombstones.

Destroyer6 I cracked the windshield in my '97 Wrangler 3 times, once a month after I bought it, and the other times it happened twice within 6 months. I got the crack filled just once, the other two times were a total replacement. On my '14, I was driving to work late at night and there was only one other car on the road coming towards me when it cracked this time. I think it's just bad luck that it happens, but I made sure to add windshield replacement to my auto policy when I purchased my new Jeep. I live in the snow belt so there's a lot of debris that gets kicked from the roads.

dreinecke I've had a quarter sized star for two years and it wasn't until we hit -7 the other day that it finally cracked across the bottom of the windshield from the star. I figure 40k was pretty good mileage out of it.

BTW - got the star before I was lifted. I can't remember the last time a rock hit me since.

I was so happy when they didn't have the Jeep in the corner when I replaced mine. That and the one on the wheels are so stupid looking!!

DallasJKU It costs $300 to replace a Jeep windshield compared to some Mercedes or BMW's at $3K. I will take my chances. Or you could just drive with the windshield down.

MangoTango34 Almost 16k miles and I am going strong! It's probably going to happen tomorrow now that I said that...

I do have a ton of small chips in mine though. Somehow all of the chips seem to be on the drivers side, and the biggest one is in my path of vision. Super annoying.

Rovercross I know my JK's windshield days are numbered. When a bug hits a Jeep's windshield you know it scares the hell out of you.

RJL1 I have multiple hits on our 2010. The first came just after I hit a deer with it at 1300 miles, a few weeks after I bought it. To date I think we have 3 hits. Had them all filled and they haven't cracked any further. Just bullseyes.
12-20-2014 07:23 AM
n3tfury had 3 replaced on my 2012 before 15k. Now on my 2014 almost got to 12k before two large cracks. Gonna leave them for a bit though.

toms In Kentucky all carriers must replace glass with no deductible. Also can not be counted as a claim.

they fill it only for free. If its larger than a dollar bill they will replace it but it will cost you your deductible. Ive had geico on my now sold H2 and FJ Cruiser, and now on the jeep. < 100 deductible is the way to go there.

ibwile I went through 2 TJ windshields in a month, and then about 125,000 miles without an issue. Just the luck of the draw I suppose.

Geico full auto and I don't worry about it. Free glass replacement, they come to you. Can always switch to the plastic- looks good and crazy tough.

I am sure I'll blow the JK windshield at some point too.

Twice in 60 Days

Unreal..I know I live in Denver and drive to the mountains almost every weekend, but 2 cracked windshields on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler in 60 days? Glad the sales guy sold me 3 replacements for $299. I would never buy another Jeep without the coverage

tnjeeptj [QUOTE=I buy the cheap windshield repair kits from Wally World and fix them as soon as I get them, before they spread.[/QUOTE]

+1

I've been doing this for years...it's cheap, it's easy and you can fix cracks up to 4" long if you're careful and use enough epoxy at the right temperature. Cheaper than the extra insurance too.

You're good to go w/ Geico when it comes to cracked windshields.

LordQuas I had my first one on the second day of owning it, and I have 3 now I think...under 4k. My city's solution to winter is to dump rocks on all the freeways

REAPLLC Has anyone tried ClearPlex Jeep Wrangler Windshield Protection Kit?

dvitous On windshield #4 on my '99 wrangler.

At least they aren't horribly expensive... and the auto-glass place comes to me.

That is awesome. I didn't know there was a DIY version. I'm paying $20 every 3 or 4 weeks to have mine fixed every time I get a rock thrown at me. Hopefully someone up here in Canada sells something like this. I do some checking.

JackdUp I know this may be a Jeep nostalic look, but why hasn't Jeep considered to slighly angle the windshield to reduce the amount of chips, cracks etc, while improving aerodynamics for better gam mileage? (or have they?) A 2" tilt isn't extreme.

kpeoples Factory mopar windshield installed with the Jeep grill. Looks as good as new :-}

kpeoples Called the insurance company this morning and they are going to replace it on Friday. Also I made sure to ask for dealer glass (OEM). They don't give it to you unless you ask :-/

I have Geico also. I'm lucky I had my 09 for 3 months before a rock flew up and cracked the windshield. I called Geico and they came to my house and replaced my windshield two days later. With the angle of the windshield, I'm surprised it's only been replaced once LOL.
