|Jshep42||Thank you guys for all the help, I'm still in the research phase, I don't really have a lot of money to spend so I'm kind weighing my options at this point. I have all the equipment to pull it off I just don't know what will be the most cost effective|

Something to consider...If you are just doing a standard lift, you may just want to just buy arms. Guys like Imped, for example, built a custom suspension system where his links were better off built than bought because of the factors involved.
However, if you are just going to do a standard lift...you probably wont save much by building arms.
Food for thought for two arms...

Building control arms is pretty SOP in the Jeep suspension world. There are build threads all over the place with custom arms, including mine.

Isn't that difficult to calculate yourself.
- position on a level surface and secure vehicle (blocks, etc so it doesn't move)
- jack the frame up to desired ride height and secure with jack stands
- disconnect control arms (and maybe shocks) and position axles back to where you want 'em
- measure distances, ensure everything is 100% in the right positions (axles mostly) measure 16 more times.
- fabricate with one sided adjustable arms
- install, measure, adjust, measure again, adjust
- get it properly aligned
And unless you have done a massive amount of research, I'd recommend simply recreating your current lift with the new measurements.
Also, be very careful if you decide to drive it before getting it aligned (and even after). A mis-aligned ride is a scary thing to drive.
Lastly, unless you are very competent in your skills (fabricating, welding, etc), don't do it. Would be disastrous if a weld failed or whatever when cruising along.

That's why you build arms with adjustment......
Allow the lowers to go from ~15.5-17". Build uppers with a minimum length of stock. When you set up the axles under the Jeep, you will adjust the arms to properly position the housings so that caster/pinion angle is correct at ride height, centered and square at ride height, and nothing interferes at full bump. Those things are important, length is just a byproduct.

Fabricating a 4" lift
I am going to build my own control arms for a 4" lift. My only problem is I don't know exactly how long to make the control arms and nobody in my area has a lifted jeep so that I can measure. So if anybody with a 4" lift, long or short please specify, could possibly give me a measurement bolt hole to bolt hole it would be much appreciated. I just can't afford to buy a lift and I have the means to build one if I have the right information. Thanks for any help!
