It seems it has been a while since I started this project, I look back at what it looked like when I bought it and it is no where near the same YJ. Still a ways to go on it, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...

these are a few of the pictures from the weekend I had it in the driveway. It is back in the garage now as I am putting on front sway bar and shocks, also doing the brakes and measuring for shocks..

|daniel8956||time for a few picture... not in any order... been doing odds and ends lately.. actually had it in the driveway over the weekend and let it run for an hour. No issues there. ordered all the brakes for it yesterday so I can redo those and then should be drivable for the shake down. I have to take a few more picture of stuff I have done such as the twin sticks are in, new shift tunnel cover is fabed, it is coming together. I will post pics how it looks this week when I get it back out of garage...|

|samizdad||Glad you updated. Wanted to see pics of finished product. Spray all of the exhaust bolts with PB or something. Really helped me when loosening fasteners. Probably knew that though.|

Been a while since I did an update on this.
It is up and running now, trying to figure out the exhaust. with the passenger side drop I need to reroute the pipes some how. I have a bunch of new pictures that I will repost as soon as time pernits. Th rear driveline Just got here today from Tattons in Utah. lifetime warranty even if off-roaded. Plan for the eek is to replace the cracked exhaust manifold and get it all plumbed to the rear. any sugestions on that would be helpful.

I ended up selling off he scout front end and picked up passenger side drop from a 75 wagoneer (74-79) Dana 44. pretty much a direct bolt in. The rear (SCOUT) end come to find out, my stock e-brake cables are a match for lentgh. saves a little time. For now I have the 4.0 bolted in and instead of chasing and splicing i am just going to swap out my 89 dash wiring for a 92-95 harness and use the wiring harness i picked up with the motor. plug and play.
I have to get the fuel pump swapped out and the tank set back in the frame and the clutch installed then I will be setting the tub on its new mounts and getting on the engine wiring.

the dash is done.
got my dashboard back from powder coat. also have the the door and hood hinges. Axles are installed with 4.5" lift and a shackle reversal. The tub is off and almost completelt stripped of paint. This weeks plan is to get the new fuel pump installed and the tank back in the jeep and the tub back on after it gets primed...Nice thing about this YJ, the frame fits in the back of my dodge.

More work done
I got most of the interior out now, the motor trans and transfer case are out and gone....Pulling tub off tomorrow and the getting to work on the frame. Picking up the lift kit this weekend 4.5" Rubicon express. Moonshiners 4x4 swap meet is this weekend at the fair grounds, god only knows what i am going find there. I will let you know. and post more pics again.

Having lived in the Great Northwet (not a typo!), I know there are some fantastic spots to wheel out there. We used to go up to the Cle Ellum area east of Seattle & ride for days on the trails. Beautiful country!

weekend work done
the entire front end and power train are out. roll bar and interior are also out. I even started stripping the paint off of it. hope to have frame cleaned and stripped by the end of next weekend. Dash will be done this week also.

Well the plan for the weekend is to pull the entire front end and power train, and also to start on pulling the tub. Will post pics as they are taken.

I picked up a set of Dana 44's off a Scout II. Won't use the front because of the castor, but only paid $100.00 for the set. Got a line on a rebuilt T5 with a Dana 300. Headed there now. And yes I will be swapping to a passenger side drop as i am going to be putting in a Dana 30 front end. I will how ever be installing the Warn kit with axles.

1989 YJ islander build.
I bought this jeep from a teenager who beat it bad. Front springs are bent, right front sping hanger is busted. both motor mounts are broken trans mount is busted. transfer cas is cracked all the way around the housing. H e has had it one year. He got it from his granfather.. it has 93,670 miles on it... Oh, and wait, he also spray painted is blue right over dirt and the decals. And it still ran and drove.
The good: no rust anywhere. not even under the roll bar. I did not over pay.
The Plan: FI 4.0, 5 speed with a dana 300, dana 44 fron and rear, 4.5" Rubicon Express lift with a shackle reversal and either 33 or 35 inch Tires (TSL). I am also writing a program to cut a CJ style dash on a water jet machine to replace the plastic YJ dash. Not sure yet if the seats will stay or go. would like to find some heated seats to swap in.. we will see....
