Shark_13 Same with mine, power wiring for stereo and lights were spliced like 4 times on one wire run!

spr0k3t Yeah, I always give it a comb over. Check for non-standard crimps as well. I had to replace a couple lines to my rear blinkers... not sure why the PO used T-Taps in two different spots... ricer glow perhaps?

Ole4Cyli LOL, after I bought mine I got it home and noticed whoever took off the fog lights left the hot wire danging dangerously close to the fan...

Watch out for the PO

So I'm a newb... but I know my hand in and around wiring when it comes to cars and audio. I was pulling apart the dash to make sure everything on the internals were good to go. I found a dangling unfused power line tied directly to the battery, 14GA. The PO cut it and left it dangling inside the tub. There were perfectly good RCA cables (Stinger cables no less), that had been cut and left in the stereo. The CB antenna cable was bare and zip tied dangling behind the glovebox just waiting for that perfect bump to hit a power near the fuse box.

Whenever I buy a car, I always make sure the electronics are sound and back to stock as they can be. I'm really glad I did this as I was able to smell burning rubber/nylon on the first trip home.

And please, for the love of god, run proper gauge wire with a fuse for amps. 14GA on a 500W 2ohm load will fry the dickens out of the amp.
