Mansizedtarget I have the Festoon/Fuse type bulb. I want a red LED that is not too bright. Can someone just provide me a link for what will fit at a reasonable price.

dale_z28 I jumped on the LED bandwagon a bit too quickly it appears. I ordered my Putco 280003W's from Amazon. I even entered my model/year info to make sure I was getting the right lights. They confirmed but Wrong-o. I need a different type, mine aren't the 194-type wedge base, mine is a single "AGC fuse on steroids" bulb. Has metal caps on each end. (for lack of better description)
If anybody wants these LED's, they're for sale...or trade for what I need for my '09 Wrangler X

glad you're happy with them---
LEDs are fast becoming a force in the illumination world with their miniscule power consumption and low heat output + the 'wow' factor of the amount of light they produce
hardest part is oft-times finding what will 'pair-up'/replace your present incandescent bulb in relation to the base and space you have to work with

JT44 I bought some very inexpensive LED assemblies on Ebay. The first were round and easily fit in my dome light housing but the color temperature was a but too cold for my liking. I had also bought some others that were described as warm but had a square panel. I like the warm ones, they are also much brighter but just a hair too big so the front dome light lens doesn't close completely. The rear one is just fine. Even so it hasn't stopped me from continuing to use them with the lens not perfectly flush. I think when I get some time i will try trimming the panel slighting so it will fit right. If that does not work I will find a slightly smaller assembly. Both were very cheap at about $3 to $4 or so each delivered. The round ones came from within the US and the warm square ones came from China directly. Both came with three different adapters for the most common lamps. These are not plug and play as the require a little effort to mount well but for the price well worth it. FYI I have a 2012 JKU. Below are the links.

I've been looking at a lot of LED lighting upgrades recently. The one thing I have learned so far is that LED lighting and inexpensive are mutually exclusive. It is a bit annoying because the actual LED components themselves are really not that expensive from a component cost standpoint. Look at the bright side, you will likely never have to replace any light that you convert to LED.

NFRs2000NYC Unfortunately, the SMD LEDs that everyone loves are not cheap. The better they are, the more money they cost, plus the cost of making a bulb out of them. Look at a pricetag or nearly 20 bucks a bulb for high quality SMDs.

SeattleSeven I bought two of the "WLED-xHP6-DAC" from superbrightLEDs.com

WLED-xHP6-D: LED T10 Wedge Base Bulb WLED-WWHP6-DAC: Warm White

It has a wedge base with a round plate with six surface mount LEDs on it.

They fit right into the stock dome housing with a some gentle persuading. The warm white color is not really "warm" in the traditional incandescent sense, it is a very crisp bright white. Bright as hell, I had originally planned on adding some more lighting to the glove box, center console and perhaps something in the rear for cargo lighting. I cancelled all those plans after I installed these, no need any longer.

dome led question

quick question on converting the stock bulbs in the dome lights to leds. i have read a few threads on this and was a little un-clear. i pulled the bulbs out and they have the numbers 501 on them but in a few threads i saw them listed as 194's. i have a 2012 sport. anyone info from anyone who has done this would be greatly appreciated.
