jasonh28 hey where did you guys weld in your o2 sensors? i heard today it matters how far you mount them, will it affect how it runs if they are too close to the headers? or right in the headers?

Ibuildembig Its kinda like that, but its not really a gm or jeep or whatever signal, its the waveform and number of pulses.

As long as you can get to the signal wire it should work the same I would think....I'll keep you posted. Im gonna bring in some clusters here to work when I get caught up and see what's going on with them.

Rmitchell83 I am not real sure on a YJ, but that definitely makes sense. On a TJ however, the gauges are electronic and will only accept a jeep signal. What the tach emulator does is takes the GM signal and converts it to Jeep signal.

Ibuildembig I am working on a tach solution for when I swap a v8 into my pops yj. I am thinking a pot just needs to be soldered in so the pulse can be adjusted.

Rmitchell83 Just went back through my pictures on photobucket, didnt realize i was that far behind on updating them lol. I will take more tomorrow and i also have some videos of it lifting the left front wheel off the ground during the rear end torture test after installing the 8.8. Passed with flying colors by the way and could not be doing better. Anywho, i will upload those videos and new photos by friday.

Rmitchell83 Well.... lost third in the transmission.... Guess you can't expect too much from a junkyard tranny. Anywho, going to have it rebuilt so it will basically be brand new... Got the new NOVAK tachometer Emulator in, it "works" but I am not happy with it at all!! It has a pretty good delay in it from the time I push the gas to the time the needle moves. Apparently that is normal. Anyone else have one of these things? or have one from another company such as Dakota Digital?

Rmitchell83 just got the sgi-5 from Dakota Digital installed to make the speedometer work. It was fairly east to install and works perfectly. Got my second tachometer emulator from NOVAK and it did not work either. they are supposed to be sending me another when they get more in...

erickpl Hrm, maybe I should take the 5.3 out of my Avalanche and drop it into the Jeep.

I'd love to see a pricing breakdown for all of this. As well as a total of hours spent doing it.

lindel I'd expect you to see a minimum gas mileage in the high teens, maybe even low 20s. My Silverado avg about 21 to 22 on the highway with the 4.8L.

Rmitchell83 yeah its nowhere near the same Jeep. i dont know if gas milage is any better right now, i cant seem to keep my foot out of it lol. but no doubt it will get better fuel milage

Green LJRub Thats great, I'm glad you got it going! I imagine its a night and day difference between the shitty 4.slow and the 5.3. Check your gas milage! I have hear they get better MPGs with the 5.3.

Rmitchell83 8.8 is in, and the Jeep is running flawlessly! We took it out yesterday to test the strength of the rear end brackets and welds etc. lifted the front wheel off the ground, and over a water bottle, from a dead stop. this thing is a BEAST! We still have a few minor, bottom of the list stuff left, but i am driving it everyday now and could not be more pleased with it.

Rmitchell83 Finally got my brackets in, ordered the kit from kNOwwhere2Jeep.com. It came with everything i need to do the swap. Got a 8.8 from the similocal pick n pull, looks to be in perfect shape. Will start on it tomorrow! cant wait to get back in the jeep!!!
