lead jacket Looks like a nice little compressor,and im sure it will serve you well..but, isnt there anything made in the USA anymore???.. my yj was made in canada....sorry for the off topic rant

Motor says assembled in Mexico. Made in the USA means, we put the stickers on here in the States.

1hand I hate working with 10ga wire with only 1 hand



Now I have one cord to anywhere in the garage and use any of the 3 machines with just a flip of a switch.





All self contained now.

1hand Worked on remodeling the old weld cart tonight, to fit 3 machines and 2 tanks.











Thats it for today. Tomorrow I will make a extension cord with 3 outlet plug-in bank, on board air line, cord holders, and tig filler rod holders.

1hand I figured out the thread size of the upper C's, its 1 1/8-12. I might try slotting a bolt and thread it up from the bottom to try and clean up them top threads. If that doesn't work, I guess I will have to try and find a used tap on fleebay.

The first of the 3 new toys showed up today.




I got my old tig ready for the trade in tomorrow.


I'm keeping my old cart that was homemade. I'm going to convert it to hold 2 tanks, the new mig, and the new plasma and new tig thats coming tomorrow.

1hand It was a long afternoon, but I was able to get both knuckles off. Of course I manage to bugger up some threads in one of the upper C's. Now I need to figure out what size threads are in there, and will have to get a tap! I'm sure that will be cheap..........looks like it's bigger than 1".

1hand My little basement furnace-room machine shop has been a "catch all" this winter. So in the the morning I'm holding my breath and "going in" to clean it up. If I don't come out by nightfall, better send someone in after me.

1hand I started a little bit on tearing down the front axle. I did manage to get one of the locking hubs off. Only had one cap screw that rounded out on that hub. Then I was off to town to get an axle nut socket, and then got the spindle and brakes off. I had then found I need a Ball Joint Spanner Wrench.

I'm using info off of Mr. N's 44 page for the tear down.

I had to order from Napa # 278-2030 and will be here tomorrow

So far about 3 hours to get one side this far






Also, today I did a little horse trading. Traded my Lincoln 185 tig for a Thermal dynamics 180 Tig/Arc and a Hypertherm 30 Plasma cutter and bought a Lincoln 180 HD Mig. They will be coming next week. I should be set-up for the cutting and welding for the project pretty good now.

1hand A little less rusty now. I need to go a get my puller from my job trailer at work to get the pinion out. Pretty much ready for the axle tube weld up and truss build.

1hand I enjoy doing this fab work, and thinking I would like to learn more and try some major DIY mods in the future. Everything I had planned to do was mostly bolt on accessories, and spendy ones at that.

I think I have talked myself into getting a JD tubing Bender and Notcher, and fabrication all my stuff myself. Also going off the deep end and fabricating up a full blown coil-over linked suspension..............Bam!

1hand Started working on the Bugout frame today.

First on the passengers side rear, I cut off the rusted out stock shock mount to get ready for the M.O.R.E extra travel rear mounts. Under the old mount was a chassis frame rail inspection hole.......



Cleaned it up to see how bad it was. Sounded thin about 2/3's the way down on the inside as I tapped on it. Also notice I removed the upper track bar mount.



I found a piece of 13ga and bent up the new replacement section.



I don't have a Mig, but do have a 185amp Tig/Arc welder. Just takes a bit longer thats all. That is my helper today Chloe Jo "CJ" setting the amps for me.



Notched out the frame for the replacement, and removed last years stash of acorns!!!



Ta Da!



Moving rearward, the gas tank cross member has holes rusted through.



Notched out the bad, and took some measurements.



I picked up this 12" hand shear a couple years ago figuring I would have a use for it someday. Well..............



Mark out some lines on a piece of 16 GA.





The El'ceapo brake



Fits pretty good for the first go at it.



Weld, ground down and relocated and drill holes.



That is it for today. Tomorrow will be a carbon copy of today, just over on the driverside I guess.

The stock brackets are rusted through in the inner corners. Also by removing them and installing these M.O.R.E rear mounts, allows you to use 2" longer shock for more travel.

Hardcharger What is the purpose of the rear shock mounts? Are you relocating them, are the originals damaged, or. Are the for a different type of shock, other than factory

1hand Is a pint of each Pre, POR, and top coat enough for the frame?

Maybe I should get quarts and do the bottom of tub and diffs too?
