Just joined the forums yesterday. I live in corpus and am thinking about buying a jeep in a couple of months.
If anyone is still planning to come down, I would love to meet with yall and talk jeep. I'm really green on everything, so even if you are new to it, it would be nice to meet up for me.
Thanks and Best,

|Rubiconlj||Headed down to Corpus for Go Topless Day on May 18th if you want to try and put something together for that weekend. We meet at north padre island in the beach near Bob Hall Pier and then play in the sand dunes and hang out.|

I've made the trip a few times. The main things to watch are fuel consumption if you dont take extra gas cans, I decided to act stupid while going southbound and I almost ran out of gas on the way back. I would recommend airing down and have a way to air backup. And watch for small shells that have massed together near the water.... you will sink (sry it is kind of hard to describe but you will know when you see it or drive into it). Once you get about halfway cell phone coverage is spotty at best.
RedAg03 i will be at port a and maybe PINS march 11-17 shoot me a message if you are down there and want to go wheeling

|RedAg03||Those sound right, but there is only 60 miles of beach from where you enter it in the park to the land cut outside of Port Mansfield. There is no bridge over the land cut so you don't have to worry about South Padre.|

|GunToter||After doing some Googleing it seems North Padre, from Corpus to the jetti, is about 80 miles long! 113 including South Padre, does that sound right?|

I don't have any advice for you, but I plan to do the same thing in March. I'll try to remember this thread and update you with whatever I learn.
I volunteered to drive down to the landcut to help with a beach cleanup. I did it once before in my truck a few years ago, and it wasn't bad once we got off of the loose sand. This will be the first trip with the Jeep and I'll be pulling a small trailer. Should be interesting.

I have an idea in my head to go down to Corpus and drive the beach down to the jetti between North and South Padre, then back up. Camping, swiming, fishing along the way. Never done much salt water fishing so this will be pretty new to me.
I'm not overly familiar with the area, and havent spent much (if any) time wheeling in the sand. I posted in the general forum for tips and advice. I was planning on running it alone, but with the help of a forum member it dawned on me to send out an invite.
I'm thinking May or early June.
If any others would like to join I'm totaly open to dates. For me, I'm lookin to make it a 2 or 3 day trip over a weekend (I'm off sat, sun, and mondays).
I'm also open to any advice from locals or folks to know the area a bit as to wheres best to fill the coolers, gas tanks, ect and where a good exit place would be, preferably with gas and food near by. Looking at Google Earth I think once we got down to the jetti we'd basicaly have to turn around and drive the beach back up either to Corpus or an access to the park road.
Most of my beach time has been spent around Surfside beach, Port A, and right in Corpus, so I dont know the southern part of NPI at all.
If nothing else I hope to get contact info for somebody in the area incase my Jeep poops out or something. Also maybe a garage to store my top and doors in around Corpus????
I plan on stocking up on things like an air compressor, an anchor of some sort for my winch, fuel cans, ect in the mean time.
So the invitation is open to any and all Jeepers who'd like to come or just lend some advice.
