Unlimbited I would gladly trade my DS fold and tumble for a non fold and tumble. More room for a security drawer for my....uh, flashlight. 05 LJ in Ohio

epossum I know this is an older thread but I wanted to offer this info:
Ray's Wranglers on eBay has a couple of TJ driver seat bases that fold & tumble. I got one from this place a month or so ago for $50 plus $25 shipping. It was worth the money! I can now actually access the back seat area from the driver's side. Note that the seat base I ordered did not show any release cable and the one I received did NOT have one. No big deal as there is a release lever under the seat as shown in a post above. Once you figure out where to feel around for it isn't too bad to use. I figure you could probably rig up a release cable if you really wanted one, but not sure if it is worth the hassle. Bottom line is I am glad I finally got around to making this upgrade. Haven't tried it yet with the grandkids but it has to be easier than using the passenger side all the time. BTW, installing this is also a great time to clean under the seat and paint or bed line or whatever. Also, you will need a Torx bit for a couple of the seat mounting bolts, so check before starting and make sure you have the right size (I'd post it but I forget what size I found them to be).

e777 ok here's an easy one maybe somebody can answer is the non tumble driver seat supposed to work? on mine the seat back tilts forward only, should it tilt and slide forward? maybe i do have a problem there and it wouldnt be so bad if the back tilted forward and then the whole seat slid ahead all with the same button push......
03-06-2013 11:19 PM
e777 I noticed i had a connector too on my driver side slide only seat, probably for the seat belt reminder light or something, or ejection seat maybe.....

any body made the swap on there jeep to know what fits? both of my 04' seats have the lift botton release on the top outside of seat back......

ALjeep 2001 TJ Sport and drivers seat only slides, seat back does not tumble forward and doesn't have pull tab on seat back or under seat, wish it did.

BigTwig 06 TJ and both mine flip completely forward. My buddy has an 01 and only the passenger side flips forward.

e777 cool thanks, do you know if i can get a 03-06 flip/tumble mechanism and bolt it on? or are modifications to switch from the slide seat to the flip seat track required? primarily concerned with the bolt holes in the floor and bottom of the seat not lining up between the two styles of tracks
03-06-2013 04:58 AM
Neil F. 97-02 seat base which will include the tilt mechanism is not a direct fit onto a 03-06 seat.

e777 2004 TJ Rocky Mountain Edition (new to me)

Passenger flip seat only, driver slides ahead.

Anybody know is it just a matter of getting a different seat track and bolting it in? or do you need the seat frame too?

I assume just bolt the flip track on and attach the existing cable for my "slide forward" lever?

I assume sombody knows the answer to this by now

Edit: Any idea which years fit which years? i see some listed on ebay fit 97-02 and some fit 97-04? which is it 02 or 04?

Ive got two kids. My daughter is 4 so she can get in and out herself but my son is not quite 2 yet. I have him on the passenger side so I can climb in the lock him in. It would just make life a bit easier.
