Baja1ab You'd probably get more responses in the TJ forum. Us YJ folk don't know nuttin 'bout no fancy coil spring suspensions.

Need some suspension/wheel/tire advice

Bought my '97 TJ about 4 years ago. Came with a 4" ProComp short arm lift that I have never been happy with. Been through 3 different sets of shocks and she still rides really rough. Also getting noticeable driveline vibration. Tires are 31x10.5r15 on stock rims. They rub a little bit on the lower arms at full lock. Now, for the questions.

1) The tires are going bald, planning to get new meats in May. Looking at 31" BFG T/As. On stock rims, are these likely to rub on the arms as well?

2) If new tires are likely to rub on stock rims, what backspacing should I look for to prevent it?

3) I'm think about lowering the lift to smooth out the ride. I'd like to do this as cheaply as possible, because I have a complete suspension rebuild planned in the next couple years. Current shocks are rated for 2-4" lift, so I'm thinking that removing the lift and replacing it with a stock suspension and 2" spacers should ease out the suspension and driveline angles, and smooth everything out.

I'd love any advice on whether or not this will work.
