solman for the 1st time in 6 months the jeep saw day light!!! Now I need to build a cross member to connect the coilover hoops, run my brake lines, alter the gas tank and skid to clear the rear diff, install the hydro assist ram, outboard the rear shocks, finish the tire carrier..... and I'm sure there is a ton of stuff I'm forgetting.

solman Back to the Jeep,
I put the hubs on the front today, Im running 2" spacers to keep the hub from sticking out too far, that puts my WMS to WMS at 70" up front and 67" in the rear

solman I had a productive weekend. I ended up picking up a 20 ton shop press at harbor freight yesterday.
Since child labor probably built it in China I figured child labor could assemble it here in the states! My girls will be building their own jeeps someday

Hums99 Looks good! My upper link is mounted on the inside of the frame for the 3rd link. I have lots of clearance that way with no binding.

solman Diff cover for the 60 showed up this week

solman I will have to run limiting straps because my 12" coil overs just wont be long enough

Speaking of coilovers, here is the jeep siting on the suspension in all four corners for the first time since October last year!!!

solman Heres a few updates,
Its more separation than I wanted at the frame end but it was the only way I could keep the drive shaft from hitting the upper control arm bracket.

No binding! it goes up until the upper CA hits the motor mount

Spacers for the front to help suck the hubs back into the rim.

The frame is straight, the grill is crooked but heres a flex shot.

solman I have a friend that's been out there, I might get out there this year, my project is taking way longer than anticipated though.

Well if you're done with the build by the end of may there is a club called big rubbers based out if Windber pa with private property and some pretty good trails if you want to check it out. They set up a comp course etc too in the stadium there and it's pretty fun. I'm sure they'd like to check the rig out. I think we are trying to go up that wheeling because its one of the only times you can get on the property unless you're in the club/know someone.

Who knows. Do you have any wheelin trips planned this year? Spring thaw at doe valley/Windber would be a good one if you don't know about it. And we have a big RauschCreek trip planned.

Damn! It's okay though I found one. My other buddy is building his rig now similar to you, and he gave his after market to my other friend who is giving me his stock one. Haha. They are actually closer to you than me, in MD.

solman Lol, I just cut it up yesterday to make part of my front track bar
03-31-2014 07:36 PM
GoldenSahara00 Also, do you happen to have your stock rear track bar still?
03-30-2014 09:37 PM
GoldenSahara00 Looks great man. Nice work on the front stretch too. In trying to decide if I want to flatten the box out it just run an astrobox. I've seen guys get 2-3 with stock box just flat not forward. I've heard of guys getting 8 Inches out of an Astro box but I don't need that much. I am going to try and get as much out it the stock box as I can I think but at the same time trim the front crossmember back a little bit with something better than that stock tube. Still need to read some more on it and select my front axle choice. Builds coming along very nice though I hope to check it out soon.

solman I got some work done this weekend
Made a track bar bracket for the front axle

Made a front track bar

Started mocking up front CA brackets

5" of front stretch!!!
03-25-2014 08:01 PM
solman I welded up the cross member tonight and flattened out my Pittman arm and put a slight twist in it.

03-23-2014 05:34 PM
Mike5087 This build is awesome! That ARB is a sexy piece of metal. Looking forward to the finished product. Until then, I'll just follow along and be very jealous!!
03-23-2014 05:32 PM
solman A little closer to the front

2 x 6 for the new front cross member

Small bracket to tie in to the old cross member

Now I have the front axle pushed 4" forward

I will swap out this pitman arm for a flat one to get this end of the drag link a little higher up.
03-23-2014 05:28 PM
solman Thanks,
The ARB is setup in the front axle now!

Once I put the front axle where I wanted it I realized that the drag link will hit the tie rod with only about 3" of up travel and I had no room for the track bar so today I moved the steering box forward and up.
Old bracket off

Cut the cross member

Modify the old stock bracket and start mocking up

That far out on the OD of the ring gear there is no pinion contact anyway, others have done it without issue so hopefully I will not have any either. I'm really hoping to have it on the road sometime in April.

I'm going to add another 1/4" plate to the bottom for protection. As for picking up dirt, this jeep will probably only see 1000 miles per year so I'm sure it will last long enough.
