Just did the back for now to work on my technique...pretty easy to do with your guide OP! Thanks!
Made them all 11" long which equated to approximately 45" of core. Then cut pieces into two 5' and melted together for cobra weave.
Core- ACU Digital Camp
Wrap- OD Green and ACU Digital Camp
My JKU is Silver, and I like OD. The colors went well together and with Jeeps colors. Next I'll tackle the front, but for now the back was needed for the kiddos!

Just put mine in. They were very easy to make. Also made handles for the headrests too. Thanks for the instructions!

|Zwack-n-Irish||I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to thank the OP for his instructions. I needed grab handles badly, and my husband, Zwack, used this thread to make the first one just last night (for the driver's side, where I usually sit). Mine is red and retro-reflective orange. I've already put it to good use. Number two will be made and added to the passenger side, soon. Thanks again!|

Don't mind the rollbar padding....PO didn't understand how things go together. I've got to take the windshield bars back off so I can fix that.

Here's mine; installed this morning!
Thank you for all the good information on this thread.
I went with a 4-core Cobra weave. I made the cores from black cord, then used a blue digi-camo and tangerine orange. Got them from Paracordgalaxy.com which has sooooo many colors to choose from. Making the cores black really pops the color out; see the comparison pic here between that and a standard 2-color key fob.
I found I needed 44" of cord for the rollbar wrap cores in my JKU, and I went for an 8" long handle which required 32" of core. Colors required 5 feet each for the wraps and 4 feet for the handle. (I cut 5.5' and 4.5' respectively and had plenty left over)

|Fyer||The sizes used in the original guide were too short for me to use with the padding on my roll bars on my jk. I extended the length to 44 inches for the bar core and it was perfect. For the wrap 50 inches of each color will work fine. The handle core is still good of course.|

|RAWRChrissy||Hi there! I recently bought a Jeep JK and it came with no grab handles. Being 5'1", I have a very hard time getting into something so high. I did some research and thought the paracord handles were so cool, so I decided to try and make my own. I just finished my first handle and thought I would share!|

My latest endeavor with paracord
A sort of harness for my subwoofers since they slide around so much on the slush mat in the cargo area. Unfortunately I didn't have enough purple leftover after grab handles like I thought I did so I have to buy more tomorrow but here's it like 2/3 finished
Even had some help from Cobra puppy

But hey have a leash if I get another one
|03-27-2014 12:27 PM|
I'm going to be making straps to hold my subs down (they came with it)
They keep rolling around and it's annoying as hell and I figured I needed to incorporate the black and purple thing all the way through my jeep lol

|4x4mickey||OK the leash is posted in my jeep profile can't get it to load them in to the thread but shows the idea|

|4x4mickey||well i have it made, now just need to get this thing to allow me to post a photo of it|

|4x4mickey||Im working on a dog leash right now that will wrap the roll bar and then hook to her but be short enough she won't hit the ground in the event she tries to jump it will just put her back in the seat. and be strong enough i can put her on it as a primary lead when out of the jeep in the trail also.|

My little adjustment to the measurements listed in the first post cause I guess the roll bars on my 2010 are thicker than the OP's
Roll bar core: 43"
Roll bar wrap: 51.5" of each color (103" total) [although this baaaarely made it to the end so you could probably add an inch or two. I did 2.4" per inch of core 2.5 would probably be a better amount
Also, when I did my first one I was a little unclear of how to do the wrapping around where the core connects to the part that goes around the roll bar. I ended up figuring it out so here is pictures of the front and back of how I did mine.
I put my colored strand through where I melted the two ends of the core wrap together so that it was kiddy corner on the other side of the core and ran the black cord over where I just tucked my purple and across the back so it's like an X and then continued wrapping. Just made sure it was tight against the core after doing a couple knots (or whatever it'd be called)
Hope it helps someone. I'm really loving this process and I can't wait to make more stuff lol

I make grab handles for a little side money and I just installed my first pair on a JK this morning. Turned out really good!
|03-22-2014 10:40 AM|
Made my first one and the handles that go around the bar were a bit to short (didn't measure I was too excited to get started so I used the measurements on here) so I had to add some length to them.. Approx 4 inches of actual handle
But I finally got it in
Now onto the others

Uh oh I think you guys just got me into a whole mess of future fun para cord goodies
This is fun. I'm in the middle of my first handle now
