csrrsr I'm running 265/70R17 studded snows with TPMS sensors at 34 psi. Tires are rated for 44 Max. Not sure what the sensors are set at, but 34 psi hasn't set them off and 34 seems to be the perfect psi for the weight.

Em52 Hi guys, got a friend picking up a new JK2-door sport today, with the $400 upgrade to a Rubicon suspension and wheels, 3.73 axle gears and they are swapping out the the OEM 255/75R17 T/A's for DuraTrac 265/70R17,

The low pressure tire alarm is set at 36 psi, but I think this pressure is high for this tire. I have 315/70R17 and run 28~29 psi, what would you guys recommend for the 265?

I actually think I've decided I'm going to go with this combination.

Ohioskully I just put 33 x 12.5 x 15 tires and rims on my stock JK 4dr and there is plenty of room and got a smoking hot deal from Discount tire on the site here and had everything next day by lunch but im close to the distribution center in ohio.

The look is sick i love it and it added about 2inch's of lift to the jeep compared to the stock 16 inch steel rims and 225/75/16.

Here is pic what i just got like said price was great for 5 tires and rims shipped. MB TKO rims 15 inch with General Grabber AT2 33 inch tires. Just put them on this evening.

Burgundy What a great informative forum and post you guys have here. I've been searching this site for a while now but I have finally decided to register.

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport with still stock tires and wheels.



I'm finally been able to financially be able to upgrade both of them.

Upon researching, I don't want to lift my Jeep but I want to be able to have a really big sized tire in the process. I've narrowed it down and want to go with a 16" rim.

zlaw1991 Ok thanks, I was just concerned about rubbing the front tires at hard over, she doesn't see crazy off roading just wooded trails, I was originally gonna go with 285 / 70 / 17 but I can get the 295's for only ten bucks more a tire, if anyone is running 295's with 5.2 back spacing and can post some pics that would be great

I think you're ok. The 295/70 shows 33.3/11.6 which is a harrower 33" tire.

zlaw1991 Hey guys I have a 2014 jk sahara unlimited and just picked up a set of procomp rims with 5.25 inch backspacing, is anyone else running that same backspacing with 295/70/17 tires and experiencing any rub. I also have the teraflex leveling kit installed.

Jmoesdad I have a Terraflex leveling kit on my jku and am torn between 33's or 35 Duratracs. The 35's are 34.6" and $50 more. Not much rock crawling done here in Orlando. Thanks

ccaddy Couple of questions:

1- Can I take my 4x4 sahara off road?

2- If I get larger tires will they rub?

3-how come so many of you don't have a sense of humor?

bahahahahahahahahahha - this thread is crazy! But great that so many are willing to continually chime in and help all the pour souls that need the information. Way to go.

Great! Appreciate the additional info, we've got 3.21a as well. Happy to hear the slightly taller tire doesn't really effect the drivability

Thanks, 3.21. I ended up getting the dealer to buy my stock tires. I love this new slightly higher look. I have not noticed any difference at all, I think the speedo might be out 1 or 2mph. Rides the same, slight hum from the tires but they are brand new so that may wear. The spare did not fit on the factory mount on the back, I've ordered the Rugged Ridge spacer for now. I'll upgrade bumpers when my wife and budget allows. lol

csrrsr I have a 2" lift and found a site with really good prices on some XD wheels I want to purchase. I'll be running 285/70R17 Toyo's AT2's. The store gives me the option of 17X9 with back spacing of 5.71 or 17X10 with 4.56 back spacing. I really don't want the 17X10 as I like to see more overhang of the tire compared to the wheel. But then the 5.71 back spacing on the 17X9's worry me being that earlier posts state that anything over 4.25 may rub on OEM standard lift. Should I be worried with 5.71 back spacing with a 2" lift?

Jeep looks great! I was going back and forth between white and black but finally settled on black because there was one that could be dealer traded with the options I wanted.

I think I will go with the MB Torque which is 16x8 with 4.25 backspacing with the Duratrac 285/75r16 to be 100% safe.

Discount tire has $100 rebate on the wheels plus $100 rebate on the tires and a $40 visa gift card. Can't beat $140 off!

Well, this strictly my opinion and Ido not consider myself an expert, so here's my thought on your question...

1. On stock wheels with NO fender mods, 33"

2. On aftermarket wheels with 4.5" (or more) positive offset, 34"

3. On aftermarket wheels with 4.5" (or more) positive offset, with fender trim + below front bumper plastic skid (wind deflector/splash guard I call it, lol) minor trim, 35"

This question has definitely been asked before but i couldn't find a straight answer. What is the largest overall diameter of the tire that would fit on the stock jk. Also, I'd like new tires and wheels in a package and I've been looking around. Any suggestions on a good site?

MRT2 Slightly confused when one references 4.5" or less backspacing. Are they referencing >4.5" as in it's ok with 4.25"; 4" etc on a 33"11 tire? (285/70/17) A bit confused as I'm looking to purchase a tire with a 4.75" backspace and wanted to verify what had to be done (if rubbing - if any) for a 33" or 35" tire size.

MGEJR I went with Hercules Terra Trac AT2. 285/70/17 on stock wheels. I only rub slightly at full lock. I will be adding a teraflex 2" leveling kit.

dmz I needed new tires and thanks to this thread I decided to get Cooper AT/3 in 275/70 17. No lift or spacers or rub. Thanks for the help

4.5" is perfect. I ran 285/75/16 with 16x8 4.5" rims. No rubbing even max flexed off road. I thought it was a good look too.

Carlton_Banks I have read probably 100 threads on here including this one about tire sizes, backspacing, and lifts. I would like to make certain that I am making the correct decision. My original plan was 35's and 2'Mopar lift but realized that was a horrible idea since it will be my daily driver and I have an hour and a half commute each way daily. No longer my plan.

What backspacing do I need to run 285/75r16 on a stock JK Unlimited Sport to avoid rubbing? 90% of my driving will be on road, off roading limited to cutting through fields etc when I don't want to wait in traffic. I live in Chicago plowing through snow is important.

willbarrow81 I have a 2010 2dr and put the springs off a jku on it and I have stock Rubi rims on it and fit 35's on it with no problems little rub at full turn but that's it! I've since cut my fenders and it looks awesome!!!

Misleading... Stock later post 2.5" lift when asked also note the flat fenders, doubt 35's fit on stock wheels without spacers to reduce the back space. At minimum two mods to install on stock wheels.
