GeckoSupra I went to Picketville/Commonwealth about 2 weeks ago - is really dry right now.

Wife and I tried to find "Four Creeks" but all the roads were blocked off with gates from the Yulee side /shrug.

Went to a small trail by Town Center behind the Gate gas station/apartments - assume this is what everyone was talking about?

Guy @ work mention the FJ Cruiser guys are going to an area of Southside Blvd. and Hogan road - he showed me the map on google.

I'm down for a trip to Osceola forest if anyone wants to meet up or beach...whatever

JRoweMDN That sounds like the clutch is bad spinning free at temp.

Yeah I posted in the tech forums and then did some googling, all signs seem to point to that. Funny thing is, I drove the jeep to operating temp and then turned it off, free spun the fan and was able to do so easily which from what I read means the clutch was bad, but once I start the jeep up the fan is spinning like normal. Am I checking this correctly? Oh, then I found an article that says to try and spin it on a cold motor LOL

GeckoSupra Anyone heard of Four Creeks in Nassau -- one of the FJ Cruiser guys @ work mentioned the area. Allowed to drive? Any good trails?

GeckoSupra I wouldn't drive on any land that has signs posted personally.

Unfortunately, its the property owner's burden to post the signs to keep people away:

Under Florida Statutes section 588.10, a property owner must provide proper notice to all parties that may enter the property. All gates, fence corners, and all boundaries that lay along waterways must have posted notices of proper size and composition. The postings can be no more than 500 feet apart. If no notice of trespassing is posted on a piece of property and the party cannot know who owns the land, the party may not be able to be assumed to be a trespasser. This may change the party's status in liability for damages for harm that may befall that individual. Certain facilities require different wording in the posted notices, and a different penalty for the person caught trespassing.

Keep in mind even if there are not signs, you could still be charged under:

Chapter 375.314, Florida State Statutes prohibits persons from damaging any public lands by the use of a motor vehicle and in addition to criminal penalties, also subjects the owners of the vehicles to civil liability for damages caused by the actions of their vehicles. Violators can be arrested by any law enforcement officer who witnesses a violation of this law, or for criminal trespassing.

It has just about everything - obstacle courses, mud, Show and Shine, vendors, music, and trail rides from easy to difficult. They had over a thousand jeeps last year, which was their 3rd year for the event. I missed it last year but some friends went and had a great time, and I'm all set to go this year.

brighton By the way, if you didn't see it, last years Ultimate Adventure took a swing through the Southeast for their annual jeeping trip.

The last part of the trip was stopping in Daytona Beach, then they rode to Mayport, took the Mayport Ferry, and then on to the Gulches. This video is the last part of the trip:

Part 5: 600 Mile Drive to Gulches Off-Road Park in South Carolina - 2013 Ultimate Adventure Week - YouTube

Fortunately, it was dry when we were there. If it's wet, it makes it much more difficult with the slick clay, and the park will close if there's too much rain. Also, in the video they took on some of the biggest obstacles and hardest lines. You can still have a blast on the intermediate trails and even the difficult trails where you can take bypasses around the really big rocks.

They have primitive campsites all around in different areas of the park. I'm not sure if there was an area for camping trailers, or maybe they could use the same areas.

We didn't camp because it was crowded for Memorial Day weekend and there were a couple of spouses that went with us that didn't want to camp, so we stayed in Clinton about 30 minutes away. If you camp there, you can also do night rides which we didn't get a chance to do.

Oh, and there was someone there for the weekend from a BBQ joint selling BBQ, hamburgers and moonshine. I bought myself some of the strawberry moonshine in a quart jar to take home.

I'd love to go back. Maybe I can talk the group I went with to go again soon. We all had a great time and I especially liked that there were rocks, hill climbs, and lots of wheeling you just can't find around here.

Maybe some of us here on the forum could organize a group ride? It was busy for Memorial Day weekend, but I understand most weeks there are 15-20 jeeps tops.

brighton I deleted the first sentence of my post because I don't want to resort to name calling, even if you did call me a smart@ss and seem to come here with an attitude.

Seriously, you're new to this forum and this thread. Relax, read some posts, learn some of the forum etiquette and what some of the rules are and you'll find this is a welcoming group of jeepers.

x_jeepologist91_x Everyone, I apologize for being rude, I was just trying to give people a fun place to go, didn't realize it would raise such a commotion, I've been going wheeling wherever since I was little and we've just always gone wherever we could find, and usually owners didn't care if you were just trail riding as long as you weren't messing things up or trashing the place.. again, my apologies, happy trails.

I'm tying to figure out who the owner is right now so that I can just ask them, I've talked to people who have been going for 20+ years and some say it's just vacant land owned by the city and some just say the don't know. But I'll find out and get back to everyone on here because that's an amazing place to go.

That would be cool. Since Hardrock can be done in a few hours, it would make the trip a little more worthwhile to have another spot to go to.

Yeah sounds great! Smartass. Its not like it's a meth lab, it's vacant land owned by the city get your panties out of a wood.. to some people sand doesn't cut it.. and that seems to be the only legal places around without driving for an hour.. and if it was that big of a problem the game warden would have stopped the couple hundred people that go out there every Friday and Saturday night!
