|LewdDude||My dealer just ordered a pump for my 2013 JK... hoping it's the revised edition...LOL|

|xirtic||I just got my Jeep back this evening.....they installed pump #3. It is the revised part this time. I am hoping for better results this time.|

|MotorCityJK||Has anyone tracked their coolant temps via the upgraded EVIC? I'm seeing intermittant temps around 212-215 then dropping back to 199-204° (mid 60's ambient outdoor). At one point idling for 5 min I saw 224°. I'm wondering if it's an air pocket.|

|dalearyous||taking it in did suck! we have one of the worst shops here (infamous) and i always get paranoid. plus they don't give out rentals and the shuttle is worthless!|
|09-10-2013 10:09 AM|
|MotorCityJK||What a PITA. I'm not overly worried since it's under warranty but the b.s. involved with taking it in sucks. If the pump was cheaper I'd consider just doing it myself.|

|Lbear||Chrysler has had a slew of bad water pumps. Mine was replaced for this issue and then I started losing coolant. Turns out the pump housing was bad too- cracked. Dealer tells me they have now beefed up the housing.|

Same here, at the time I had about 3k miles.
They bled the cooling system, confirmed there were no air bubbles then ordered a water pump.
After the water pump replacement I have yet to hear the whistle again.
Replaced under warranty as well. JKUR.

|MotorCityJK||I think our '14 JKUR w/ less than 500 miles on it has this noise. Just started a couple days ago (or just noticed it a couple days ago). I'll try the suggestion of checking the coolant level but we had a water pump replaced under warranty at 15k miles and the noise is aggravatingly similar. It's very intermittant at this point so I'll likely need to wait a bit to take it in for a check. Loud enough that I can hear in the background while on the phone with my wife and she's on bluetooth (was in a drivethru)|

I have a 2013 Unlimited. Just bought it used with 15,000 kms three days ago. It didn't make the noise on my test drive, but I drove it an hour and a half to get home, and when I jumped out at home it was whistling like crazy.
If this is indeed the water pump, as most of the others seem to be, is it fair to say dealers are all covering the replacements under warranty?

|dalearyous||water pump ordered for me too. its on back order but appears to be a common issue.|

|Heysus||Took mine in and a water pump has been ordered for me too. We'll see if that fixes it.|

|Jasvan||Took my 2013 Rubi in today about chirp and water pump is on order and supposed to be in next week. Luckily my dealership is giving me a rental for the day. I only hear it when it's in park and I get out. Sounds bad.|
|06-19-2013 05:50 PM|
|Wingsnut72||My rubi has been diagnosed with a bad water pump. There was a chirp coming from the engine, and took it in on Monday. They drained the coolant, refilled, and then verified no air in the system. The chirp was still there. The pump is on back order. They'll call when it comes in.|

|THW||Just got back from the water pump swap. My whine is officially gone. Just wanted to update the thread.|
|06-17-2013 11:38 PM|
|jnolan88||It goes away with throttle like around 2500-3000 and up. Not sure about the lights never heard a change it pitch.|
|06-17-2013 11:02 PM|
|THW||Could be the water pump- maybe we just have different pitches? Mine also only really happens at idle or low RPMs (or maybe I just can't hear it at speed?) But yours sounds more like a pulley or belt screech or something to me... Does it go up in pitch with RPMs? Does it change pitch when you turn on your brights? Could be the alternator?|
|06-17-2013 10:52 PM|
|jnolan88||Thanks. Mine sounds way louder. Idk what it could be now. Only happens at idle or very low rpms. And not all the time.|
|06-17-2013 10:23 PM|
Not really. Yours sounds louder and more constant. Here's a video of mine. (I hadn't figured out the source of the noise yet when I recorded this; hence the camera searching all over the place and me trying to bounce the bumper at the end to see if the noise would change )
Mine's scheduled for a water pump swap on Wednesday morning. I'll post back here to follow up afterwards.

|jnolan88||Just gotta video of mine making noise. Did it sound like this? http://youtu.be/jwLYDYTtXgE|
|06-17-2013 06:48 PM|
|THW||Congrats on solving the problem- nothing feels quite like figuring out how to fix something!|

|mjpjr45||Well I took my Jeep in this morning. I heard the noise all the way there, told the service guy what it was doing, then sat down to wait and call my ride. While I was sitting on a bench admiring my Jeep, something caught my eye. I starting looking closer at my Jeep and noticed my Light bar mounted over my windshield was now pointing straight up. I had never set it that way. So I walk over to my Jeep and noticed the light bar was loose. At that moment I realized what the noise was. So I found a tech and asked to borrow and allen wrench. he got one for me and I reset my light and tightened it down. I told the service guy, that I may have fixed the problem. He told me to take it around the block and let him know. I started to drive off and new immediately that I had fixed it. I went around the block, getting up to speed and didn't hear anything. So I drove back, handed him the service tag from my Jeep, said thanks, and left. I felt somewhat like an idiot, but I was also glad that my Jeep, didn't have a problem. The good thing is I now know the noise the light bar will make if it ever comes loose again. I doubt it will, though. As soon as I got home, I put red loctite on the screws holding it on.|
|06-16-2013 01:27 AM|
|mjpjr45||I don't think mine is the water pump. I don't hear it with the engine idling, I only here when I and actually moving. I'm thinking I have a wheel bearing that is bad. I guess I'll find out Monday, when I bring it in.|
|06-16-2013 01:13 AM|
|THW||I have the same issue. My waterpump is back ordered and I've been waiting for like 2 weeks (or, more likely, my stupid dealer has just forgotten to call me to tell me that it came in...)|
|06-16-2013 01:09 AM|
|carguyco||Mine goes in for replacement water pump on Tuesday|
|06-15-2013 05:42 PM|
|mjpjr45||Mine started making this noise today. My buddy and I were on our way home, when I heard it. I drove about 150 miles today and it started in the last 20 or so.|
|06-05-2013 12:21 PM|
I'm at work but I'm replying to this thread so I can read it later.
2013 JKUR @ 3,900 miles started doing something that seems to match the descriptions here. Can't view the video while at work.
Definitely a little squeal/squeak/belt-type noise that's barely loud enough to be annoying.
|06-05-2013 11:59 AM|
I noticed from day one my coolant level was just above the min line so a few weeks ago I topped it up to the max line and I haven't heard the whistling/chirping noise from the water pump since even after long hot drives. I've let it idle for half an hour on a hot day and no noise, in the past it would chirp like crazy.
In any event for those with the chirping noise, I would check your coolant level and if it's down I would top it up to the max line as this may get rid of the annoying sound and if not then I would take it in and have it looked at.

|HRR1||Yes, warranty covers it.|
|05-22-2013 03:08 PM|
|MSCHULTHEIS||Appointment tomorrow for same issue. Told them I'm pretty sure its the water pump and the dealer asked how would I know? Told her the forum and she just said, ok bring it in. haha. Does the factory warranty cover this? This is my first jeep that actually still had one.|
|05-18-2013 07:23 PM|
|HRR1||Water pump replaced yesterday. Noise is gone. They said the hard part was getting all the air out of the system.|
