|Legomyjeep||I know right! But if I went bigger, id be mounting a winch on my center console to winch in my kids and short guests, lol. Ill have to let them grow a while AND win the lotto. I call my plans "goals" sounds better when I bring them up, lol.|

|kappaknight||In my old TJ, I felt more than adequate with 33s and a 2.5 inch lift. Yours will soon be a monster I'm sure.|
|03-14-2013 11:38 PM|
|Girliegirl||I would love to be that big! But we are getting a 3 or 4inch. Plans for bumpers front and back and a winch. And the list goes on and on and on!|

|Legomyjeep||Mmmmm 38s. Good thing my rear bumper is rated for up to 40 (planned ahead, hehehe)|
|03-14-2013 11:22 PM|
I'll definitely post em once they're done. The crazy thing is as of 4 days ago, I learned that Toyo also makes a 38x15.5 inch tires. Maybe next time...
But yes, with JK's, the current trend seems to be focusing on lowered center of gravity builds. 4" is a good height for 37's.
|03-14-2013 11:06 PM|
|Legomyjeep||Being the over do everything person I am, I wanted 6". But also being a newbie I must rely on others expertise. So I was told I could do 6" but then im getting in deeper with all the changes Id have to make. So 4" was just right. Litterally with the stock bumper, a few washers in the front to pull it out a tad will work. My rear was fine with exception to holding the fifth tire. I could have just gotten a swing out, but ultimately my jeep would have sagged. The slight shaving of the metal underneath near the rears was simply cutting the corners, its not a noticable change. That will def rub once on even a light trail. The flares werent even a problem. I still have stock onces (Ive been talking to a custom guy about someday creating flares from the idea in my head) I also am not keen on the flat ones, but I sure do love me some character so im thinkin Ill just make up something and let the prof take it from there. Oh I also put spacers on...i like the look of the tires sticking out, but that could have been my downfall on any rubbing. Mine are 37/13.5...i like em wide. Good luck with your tires and lift...i hope to see pics and hear how it goes when ur done!|
|03-14-2013 10:39 PM|
Hrmm... over all these were the best that I've found with the width, which is why I got them. I'm not a fan of pizza cutters and at 37 tall, 12.5" width look like pizza cutters to me.
However, I've heard it doesn't perform too well in snow due to it wanting to float over it instead of digging into it. (It's not a huge issue in GA.)
I AM looking forward to how it performs in rain, ice, etc. Nothing like judging it for yourself to really see how they are.
But with regards to my research, I also meant the lift and keeping the stock flares. At this point, I'm not sure if the lift I picked is tall enough yet. I may still need to get a 1" body lift, not sure. I like the look of the stock flares over the flat ones - so that's the only major quirk with the setup I have in mind.

At a -40 pitch and 50 yrd length driveway soaking wet with mud/pinestraw mix flowing down....even iced over twice, these tires have more than performed. (Even holding up a f350 dually)
In ur research...what have u found to be the problems with that tire? Just so I know what to look for?

Omg...ur speaking to my heart, we LOVE camping, lol.
I hadnt gotten the bumpers yet, so when I put the lift and tires on there was a lot of rubbing, as expected. Some of the metal was shaved off to allow clearance toward the front of the rear tires. The front bumper was all in the way, so a few washers set in to push it out was done. I didn't want to do a lot to the bumpers since I knew I was replacing them. Then they had a sale....I got both bumpers. No rubbing at all now. But them my rockers are close in the rear, I may have to see if I can shift em a bit, depends on what happens on a mo fun run, lol.
I specifically went cheaper in my purchase since I wanted mods right away. Shes all built in my head, and whats in my head comes out quick, lol.
I'm game for whatever, I'm just ready to ride and get dirty. I was drive dreamin about camping and jeepin earlier this wk.
|03-14-2013 09:01 AM|
Not sure what else has been said but DD crew = (daily driver) crew. We go on some fun forest service ride trails in the area and you can be sure we don't try to break anything cause these Jeeps are our daily drivers.
On 37's you will clear most obstacles pretty easily. Oh yeah, you mentioned a tummy tuck - what all was done to accomplish that?
Also, if your family likes camping and stuff, there is a very good group of people that a few of us go wheeling with. We hit up ORV parks in the area (2 hours away) and spend the weekends camping and seeing what our Jeeps can do. That's where I learn the most.

|Legomyjeep||Love it! Mine is brand new, too new. But that's okay. I got some half fallen trees to test it on. My hubby just laughs at me. I "drive dream" every puddle, hill, construction sight, curb, road rail...anything I wanna tackle it. (He saw a sticker that said "hang on, i wanna try something" said that was totally me) We have an insane incline on our driveway so I pulled the trash up with the winch, lol. I might also go off the driveway on purpose...shhh don't tell, I play oopsy girl on that. If u can't move it winch it, if u can and it just looks like fun, winch it too|

|mlemoine||Yea, I think I'm sucking my wife into the Jeep phase, she asked me this morning if she could take "The Winch" today to work! LOL!|
|03-14-2013 08:35 AM|
That's how its done girliegirl! Its funny when hubbies "break down" or give in...it does make mod justification easier. They like it just as much, lol. When I was installing my lights and winch, mine stood there watching like a little kid. He had full faith in me, he just didn't like his hands clean. I can't say, whats an xtra $300 if I'm shopping for clothes, but if its for my Lego girl...well, hes much softer, lol.
Where r u riding at?
|03-14-2013 08:06 AM|
|Girliegirl||The hubby finally broke down and I got my Jeep! Love her. Welcome we have gone on a few rides and loved it. She had not been 100% clean since we got her. Lol white Jeep with aGA mud tint. :-)|

Help me out here...as in group, do u mean this forum or a specific group?
U def. give me hope. Thx.
I gotta say the jeep wave got me. People started waving right away. The two first ones, poor guys, I was all deer in headlights. Then a motorcycle passed and it hit me...wait its like respect. Gave me a bit of a smile. Since I love being southern where we actually look people in the eye, hold doors, ask how a perfect stranger is doing and expect an answer, hold conversations w/ strangers simply bc they r in proximity...so it made me smile realizing, its just an extension of they way people can be...nice, lol. (Though I've been shafted by some, that's okay, I'm a shiny JKU....gotta earn my keep I suppose)
